Wheeler's 9 – Monstahs Made by Joey – The Unknown Side of Yu-Gi-Oh

Duel Monsters cards are the vessels of choice for duelists and sorcerers to channel monster spirits and magic effects in epic clashes of wills. They’re also trading cards that actual human people collect and trade in real life. In the original Yu-Gi-Oh series, Duel Monsters cards were created by megarich entrepreneur / amateur painter Maximillian Pegasus and his company Industrial Illusions. Us real-lifers get cards printed by Konami, but some cards are weird, and blur the narrative line between our world and the anime. Yup, this video is going to take a look at a select few normal monsters released from Konami written by plucky perpetual underdog, Joey Wheeler.

  1. I feel like so many classic fusion monsters would have been so much better if they combined the statlines from their materials, being as they were specific materials. Like Alligator's Sword Dragon, it would have had 2700ATK/1900DEF with an effect that wouldn't see it have much use today but back in the day it would have been one of the top extra deck monsters in the game.

  2. Hey, I have a question hope someone why play a lot of card game can answer

    Also I found out about your channel recently. And I really like them. (Both the pokemon and yugioh one)! Thank you for making them! 🙂
    Even if I don't play the card game myself, I watched a lot of yugioh and pokemon anime. (And played the old gameboy versions that features card game aspect that I really enjoyed)

    It has tho sparked the idea for me to play this card game after watching your videos. However, I'm not sure which one to play.
    My question being: Which is more suggested? To play Pokemon or YuGiOh (card game online)?

    Based on that;
    I don't think I want to spend any real money…
    I think I'd feel very nervous to play against real players. Because Im super newb and not very good with card games overall. Which of these game platform/options is better to pick? As in, how easy it is to get cards for f2p. And in terms of story/quests (if there are any) or any other features (that I am clueless about)

    Thank you~

  3. If he ever get his retrains, it's waaaay better that it's not connected to Red-Eyes for how still bad it is….. He needs that treatment ala normal Yugi's retrained monsters which is detached from DM or Gaia/BLS, Magnet Warriors, Buster Blader, etc…….

  4. Considering Konami made the Memento Archetype and the new series of cards that work with Gold Sarcophagus, I bet there's some mad lad at Konami who is just waiting to make Wheeler's 9 and archetype.
    PS: I opened this box some years ago when Argentina's economy wasn't garbage, I just got Skull Stalker but the secrets were fire.

  5. About Hitotsu-Me Giant's name change, it's actually not censorship. Back in the early days konami changed some of the more western sounding names into japanese names to make the cards feel more unique. Cyclops exists in every form of fantasy but Hitotsu-Me Giant is yugioh only. Same with Meotoko, Sangan, Raigeki and many more.

  6. This video was such a bizarre experience. Like, it keeps itself completely straight while covering a very meaningless topic. It keeps derailing into specific explanations and going back to many specific points of the story in the anime. It thoroughly covers every aspect it could about every card mentioned, as if to simply extend the length of the video but it goes way above the required time for midrolls. It captivates the viewer with the sincerity, seriousness and passion put behind this deep dive while also staying shallow enough that it can be understood by even the most casual of fans. I admire the way this is presented and how off putting it is. Truly a work of art keep it up 👍

  7. The remake of Monster Reborn is much better though, because it's iconic to the game, whereas the original was iconic to Egyptian mythology.
    (which the game was originally based on, but you wouldn't really know that from the cards alone until Pharonic Guardian came out^^)

  8. 😂😂 man duelvlogs has such a calming voice and nice tone that he can tell me my whole family passed and I would be like. Ha, I understand, it is just that God needed them as materials for a fusion monster or something.
