What's Wrong With My Guinea Pig's Teeth?!

Educational short about front teeth issues in guinea pigs. This is just one of a myriad of issues that can pop up. Always check the front teeth during regular health checks.
Be sure to pull the lips all the way to the top so you can see the roots of the incisors because a lot of problems start right there!

This guinea pig got antibiotics to address the inflammation and infection in that broken bottom incisor and that should go a long way in making him more comfortable. I trimmed part of the remaining long pointy incisor so that he can eat more easily. In my experience with issues like this, the broken tooth will be permanently damaged and is not likely to grown again. You can see in the video that the broken tooth is much bigger and thicker than the other. This is a condition that sometimes develops in older guinea pigs. If the infection and inflammation return after antibiotic a removal may be considered.
