I literally had no idea what forts was but legitimately this music is absolutely lovely. Classical instrumentation, classical orchestration. You can hear the determination, the focus, the commitment to achieve one last ditch attempt of success. It’s pretty powerful! Composed by Jeff van Dyck.

  1. Its really interesting to see how you interprete the music without knowing the game, especially when I do know the game (great game btw) and can therefore kind of judge how "accurate" your interprestation is. Its usually pretty accurate. For expamle; cannons are indeed one of the main weapons of the game 😀
Also the abrupt ending fits the game perfectly. In Forts, each player has a fort and has to destroy the core of the enemy fort. Over the match more and more weapons are fired and when the core is struck it ends in one big explosion, after which the fire instantly ceases. But the "heartbeat sound" still continues a little, as the tension falls after the game is over.

  2. As most probably commented, I totally didn't expect Forts to get some attention compared to all the other giant games you already went through! I'm totally up for more, this soundtrack is pretty intense.

  3. Your extremely large.. I don't even know the word… variety? Shocks me each time I watch you
    Keep up the sick work

I would check out some more music by Jeff van Dyck, he did some work on an old Rome Total War game
If your looking for more Forts music Resurgence is a fast very almost dramatic tech with some other instruments

  4. WOW. THIS TURNING UP ON THIS CHANNEL IS VERY SURPRISING TO ME.

anyways… Forts is a real time strategy game where you gotta build up your fort, arm it to the teeth and utterly obliterate your enemy's fort before they obliterate yours.

this may have some significance in the music; the first big shots are usually fired about 2-3 minutes into each match…

i think a track that conveys this well is Lock and Load, you can really feel the mass scale shootout halfway through that one.

  5. Hi, Marco! Merry 2nd day of Christmas! I really like this music! It is completely different musically, but the emotion expressed musically really reminds me of "The Ballet of the Red Shoes!" The movie tells the tale of a young prima ballerina who is torn between her love of her art, and her love for a young composer! So beautiful, musically! For me, the music by Brian Easdale ranks right up there with Rachmaninoff's Prelude in C# minor (Grandma used to play it.) and the music composed for Disney's Haunted Mansion! (Grandma used to take me to Disneyland when I was little! I wasn't afraid of The Haunted Mansion! The pipe organ part was musically complex enough for me to love it immediately!) I am certainly not suggesting that you do a reaction video to "The Ballet of the Red Shoes!" It is 20 minutes long! But, you might really LOVE this musically! As a side note, one of the principal dancers in this video danced a number of times with Margot Fonteyn! Here is a link! Enjoy at your convenience! Love, Susan

  6. Hi Marco, recently I started playing Stellaris and the OST goes really hard sometimes, I think you would enjoy listening to it; but one music that has struck with me is "The Imperial Fleet" from the Utopia dlc, it always fills me with hope, courage and strenght to fight for and against the galaxy.

  7. Forts is probably the most unusual game I've ever seen. Like a bridge builder sim made into real time strategy. Very unique.

If you want to see what it is and how it works there's a guy called incursus who's an incredibly skilled forts player.

  8. Marco's interpretation is always top notch this is crazy. Having play the game I can say it does totally fit what he says, even tho's it's a bit different since we're on a fort and not like on a shooter game

  9. I find it funny how him being unfamiliar leads him to think of it as a traditional war game when it is a cartoony game with structures dangling of tiny rockfacea shooting at eachother with cannons

  10. Hey Marco, after seeing you react to a game I never expected, I've got something you might like! Check out "Space Engineers Main Theme" its a space-based building game about designing and creating your own ships, and surviving. Perhaps check out "Approaching the stars" as well by Space Engineers, maybe even "The Void"!

  11. Forts is a great RTS game where you construct a gigantic fort with huge weapons to gun down the enemy fort on the other side of the map. And I love how you describe whats going on because in many or at least some cases you really have to think what strategy you want to execute. Like you said. And this music perfectly represents the buildup and the whole battle in general. Man I love this game…

  12. Another great track in Forts, and my favorite one, is called "Into the Fray". You need to check it out.
Also, there are few DOOM Eternal tracks that you can check out, and they are "Cultist Base" and "The Gore Nest" as fighting music, or "Exultia" as ambient. The last one is very different to what you would call DOOM music, and it gives me shivers, especially when knowing the context behind the location.

  13. Something that I think you'd particular love listening to is Pokémon's music. It doesn't matter if it's the original 8-bit or the newer stuff, but those songs are so full of meanings. Special Legendary Pokémon, final bosses, evil team themes, hell even some of the more well known route and trainer themes as well are just so good and memorable.

  14. Would love if you could do Pokemon Mystery Dungeon

    Specifically:
    Final Battle x Rayquaza
    Parting / Farewell
    Dialga's fight to the finish
    In the Hands of Fate
Don't ever forget / I don't want to say goodbye
    Through the sea of time
    Within the Sadness
    Second Dark Matter Battle
    Partner's theme (Super Mystery Dungeon)

  15. To give a general rundown of what is FORTS:

Its a 2D game where 2-8 players (Or bots) fight eachother. You must build and upgrade mines which serve as your income, while also building up a fort, placing down offensive and defensive weapons. It physics based too, so its important to keep your foundation safe.
The goal is to destroy the other player(s) reactor to win.

  16. Thanks for hearting my comment! I have loved "The Red Shoes" since I was 13! They played it on The Disney Channel! Actually, it was around this age when they played "The Student Prince" with Mario Lanza singing Carl Franze (spelling?) . YOUR O Sole Mio really reminds me of Mario Lanza's rendition! I have loved his voice since I was 13 years old as well! That's why I think that you will love "The Ballet of the Red Shoes!" You have musical genius, and you have obviously spent a LONG time in a practice room to perfect the art of your craft! Merry 3rd day of Christmas, Marco! Much love, Susan
