This is a brilliant piece. Although I don't play much these days, Elite Dangerous is the only game I've felt deeply connected too. You have captured it perfectly here. Bravo.

I described this game as "majestic" to a friend who does not play this game. It is not a simple shooter and I think some people expect it to be that and compare it to other shooters. ED is a great game and is not dead.

This made me want to reinstall. I haven't played since Odyssey came out and seeing these images brought back fond memories of my attack corvette, exploring ASP, and commerce cutter. I wouldn't know where to start finding out what's new.

Unfortunately it's not all Odyssey content. Odyssey planets are flat and boring.

The problem i see in this game , apart from being absolutly amazing , is that their problem will be money to sustain constant updates in the long term. They need to raise more money in any other form. Game is too cheap for what it offers.This game is like being part of a movie. There are no anual fees, rtc, so how they get money to pay to the team? So when this ends to be profitable, this will end. Today i bought the odysssey not even thinking about playing it, i just want to contribute in any form to this project. i prefer horizons cause it has better performance. I hope they will stay many years from now.
How many games can a video like this be done about it claim that this is all in game footage. Not just that but anyone can go experience this stuff right now. Eve has beautiful trailers and videos but they show Titans, wormhole space and massive battles that the vast majority of players will never see or experience themselves in game. If they do it takes years to be able to do some content. In Ed you can do the exploration pretty much immediately. You can fit a ship to fight Thargoids easily. You can even get a fleet carrier in a couple of days. The game let's nothing be too far out of reach but doesn't make it too easy to get. I'm not knocking Eve Online. I have played it for many years. It's just hard af.
I want Fdev to make one last move on this game, resume development for console and have crossplay on console and pc players. Add bigger cities and lots of humans, let us all fight thergoids, push them back far away from the bubble. Then relax for couple of years. Brainstorm ideas and come up with different game with different engine. This engine about to explode.

I played Starfield for a few days and realized that it was anything but what I had hoped for. Therefore my favorite space games are No Man's Sky (1.0 and RaYRoD's Overhaul version) and Elite Dangerous. And this video shows how beautiful Elite Dangerous Odyssey is.
