  3. The Japanese capacity for extreme cruelty within their own ranks says much about poor military discipline, the idiocy of the bushido code and the profound moral insanity of the Empire itself. Free men apparently make better soldiers than slaves because they fight to preserve their own freedom and that of the nation they serve. Slaves, not so much.
