What Happened to New York City’s Fallout Shelters – Cheddar Explains

A PSA released by New York City’s Emergency Management in July of 2022 about what to do in a nuclear attack left many New Yorkers – and the internet – puzzled. Many posed the question of why this was released now while others said it left them with more questions than answers. While nuclear preparedness may be a newer topic for some Americans, decades prior it was a much more widespread conversation. In fact, one nationwide initiative was focusing on private and public shelter construction. In New York City alone, there were approximately 18,000 identified sites. So what happened to these fallout shelters and where should New Yorkers turn in case of an emergency?

  1. Window AC's can pull in fresh air depending on the model and either way, they are not a tight seal compared to a closed window, however the split-unit type AC depicted in the video is "misleading" (lol pun intended) as split unit AC's DO NOT interact with outside air at all, just a small fact check.

  2. I gotta unsub the only videos they ever do are about New York like I get its a major city but it gets boring and its super stale at this point if I didn't know any better I think New York was the only city in the US. As someone from D.C. I don't even like New York Anyways rant over unsub.

  3. I think the nuke preparedness on the commie side was much better cuz pretty much every public building had a shelter and was build with war in mind, designed to act as strongholds and accommodate weapon hideouts and war hospitals. Even the busses had hidden hatches to be load injured, so that they could quickly adapted into ambulances

  4. I live about 4 miles from a major military and intelligence installation. If there’s a large scale nuclear exchange, the planet will be unlivable afterward so imma go outside and see the show…well the first few seconds anyway…

  5. Fallout shelters are useless in NYC. The City is a prime target in the event of a nuclear war. The whole city will get flattened. If there is a nuclear war, better to just go outside and get vaporized rather than a slow death by radiation poisoning over the coming days.

  6. Just be in the kill zone, don't be further away where all your skin is sloughed off and you're standing there, or dish with radiation poisoning for two weeks, and when the world runs out of water the world grows you poppies in a dry arid environment for a peaceful easy way out, good for anytime to go

65 percent of the planet has been waiting to go, with 50 percent food shortages 1/3 starving will double

Make euthanasia available, or they will make more viruses and war and feed you to
