  1. So I don't know how cannon this is, but since you touched on the "fleet issue" vs "navy", what I heard or remember, the Minmatar Republic is just a joke to Matari, it's supposedly just a puppet show for the Galente who sponsor the free Minmatar, but require the status of Republic to sponsor and help them, most Matari who would be interested in the republic already joined the federation as individuals and the rest are loyal to the Elders and to their tribes, and they are playing this theatre of a republic to appease the Gallente because they know they need them. Might be just a theory, but It's pretty close to the spirit of Matari imo.
PS: Also the concept of Republic (a ruling system focused on the wishes of individuals) completely clashes and is antagonistic with the Matari culture of loyalty to the family, tribe and the Elders, which is why it's just a joke.
PS2: I forgot to tie it back in to the fleet vs navy, navy would suggest that it's the Republic's forces, while fleet calls back to the Elder's Fleet, so calling it fleet instead of navy is sort of a soft power move or an inside joke, suggesting that it's not an armed force beholden to the Republic but to the Elders instead, as it should be.

  2. The Bifrost is the bridge that connects Asgard to the other 7 planes in the world tree if i remember my history lessons from 15 years ago. Heimdall is the watchman that keeps the bridge secure and has the ability to see everything.

  3. A good synonym for "Bellicose" would be "warlike". From the Latin root bellum, meaning war or warlike depending how it's used.

Also let me reinforce that Captain Benzie's pronunciation of Gila is 100% absolutely correct. The Gila Monster for which it is named, the Gila River basin in which the gila monster can be found, and related geographic features and locations such as the Gila Wilderness and the Gila Cliff Dwellings are all pronounced "hee lah", universally. The other pronunciation frequently heard regarding the Eve ship I have never heard in any other context.

  4. Great video ! One correction : before the Amarr showed up, the Minmatar were not in a republic. They were in a form of tribal leadership, it's never stated exacly what form but it was defenatly not a Republic. As Maleatu Shakor once said : "The Gallente are finally starting to understand that their ideology is missplaced just about everywhere apart from their own borders."

  5. You know what I find really interesting?

Most light-skinned minmatar have blond or red hair.

Especially brutors and thukkers, who are legendarily tall.

They're not just space africans, they're also space vikings. Which lends credence to the norse naming conventions too.
