What A Switch Pro SHOULD Be (imo)

As the Great NVIDIA Leak continues to be proven right, and speculation about a Nintendo Switch Pro continues to be discussed; I decided to challenge myself with a little mental exercise. What do I want a Switch Pro to be? Enjoy :).

  1. Honestly this is one of the more unique takes in this discussion. But I believe Nintendo won't do a new console for a couple more years. The idea of a console only switch is definitely a great idea for someone like me since I cannot be bothered to take it with me due to safety risks. Loved the video Ben! Awesome stuff as always 🙂

  2. I disagree with your take for a number of reasons.

1 the switch as it is now lets nintendo focus on one console not two so they only need one game in a franchise relieving burn out of having two types of games in a five year period.

2 the switch closed the gap between handheld nintendo and portable nintendo ; it allowed games like fire emblem and pokemon to be on a home console boosting overall sales.

3 power hardly matters for these games yeah sure can these games look better, of course, but games like fire emblem three houses proves you can have ugly presentation and still have a great game.

4 casing power is always a terrible idea how often has nintendo making powerful devices helped? More often then not it caused failures.

  4. To me, I want Switch Pro to be a Nintendo Switch that can play games undocked like it was docked. It means a 1080p display, bigger battery & better cooling system. Do that and I will buy it instantly…… A better processor is always welcomed, but I don't think that 4K is really neccessary.

  5. At first I thought a home console switch was a terrible idea until I heard your reasoning. I've owned every switch model and never played them outdoors. Playing ever switch game at 4K60 would be great. But I want a VR attachment for a future switch console. I'll take that and a new chip inside the dock.

  6. Here's what I think Nintendo would do for a switch pro (I doubt there will be one):
    1. A home console form factor played on a tv screen like you said in the video
    2. 4k upscaling with Nvidia DLSS
    3. Even higher overclocked gpu and cpu with efficient fan cooling for more stable fps and resolution
    4. $250 price point (There should be a significant reduced cost as there's no battery, screen, and dock expenses)

What I think will happen is that we'll get a switch 2 in 2024 or 2025 without anymore major hardware refreshes for the switch.

    Nice video

  7. Here’s what I think the switch hero should be like 1 bigger screen 2 bigger cartridges 3 physical not digital 4 4K same joysticks 5 good playadurability 5 lots of good video game companies making games for it!!!!!!!! 6 longer battery usage ect the list goes on

  8. yeah i agree this seems likely, just to win over those who plays mostly docked and want more power, which gauging online seems to be some people. and then around 2024 or 2025 release a new switch with new improved handheld experience, as the tech does not seem to be quite there yet, and the supply interruptions should ease before they make it
