I’ve been playing the open-world, roguelike, wilderness survival game Wayward for a bit on stream and off and have been loving this game. It is a very fun take on the genre, but is very deep and has a steep learning curve. With this guide, I will start a new character with you and walk you through the game basics doing the opening tutorial in the most up-to-date version of the game, wheels and wetlands. I will take all of the amazing tips I have been given by others on stream and off, as well as mix in my own advice that I have learned by dying a lot in the game 🙂 I will not spoil anything about Wayward in this guide–the aim is simply to explain as clearly as possible the game mechanics, some strategies, the controls, UI, systems, and even a few tips for new players or anyone struggling to get off the ground.
Come learn to play Wayward!

You are making guides and series on e v e r y single game that i've been remotely interested in during the last 2 months. I'm starting to feel like a concentrated manifestation of your target group. How do you do it.
I mean, seriously. I can understand when it's current, popular games, but it has happened 4 times with you already: I think about the stanley parable, death stranding, Grimrock, and now wayward, and a week later there is an episode 1 from you.

This is gonna be really helpfull
Initially I was not entirely confident you would make a good beginners guide for Wayward, due to your lack of experience with Wayward, but your teaching skills are definitely apparent in this tutorial. Plus, I'm sure that creating this tutorial series is going to reinforce the knowledge you've been learning yourself. It would be nice to see a comment from someone who is new to the game to see how helpful your tutorial is. From my perspective, you're doing a good job and I have nothing to add.
Great video – just picked up the game and was looking for a bit more of an introduction to it. While I had already figured out most of the content, there were still a few tidbits that I wasn't aware of – such as the move-to x option. Love the way you drew attention to all the different ways of using the UI options to achieve the same results. Now off to watch part 2…
It's so sad no one plays this game, it's a lot of fun to watch. Grateful for the playthrough!
Why this game seems to be as simple as Minicraft (not Minecraft) but is actually more much complex
Front loading a ton of systems info. I feel it would be a lot more helpful showing new players what actions to perform, and explaining the system info as it comes up.
another great guide Doc this game is deceptively complex its still easier to get the hang of than unreal world not that im slagging that game off i like that game as well
I would learn python so quickly from you, or any other language for that matter.
Picked up the game yesterday and this video was incredibly useful. thanks a lot ❤
Thanks for the video. Very well done.
