  1. I don’t know where Andy got the Mongols, imo Ostland art has the kossack vibe not mongol, even the mustaches look kossack, since mongols are not famed for their mustaches I think it was more of a brainfart…

    Otherwise awesome vid…

  2. Damn I missed the stream! I had a question about Altdorf, how large is it population wise? The Wiki gives two different numbers 110 thousand or a million, which is obviously a pretty damn big range. What would you say? I personally prefer the latter but maybe I’m wrong.

  3. Are cavalry archers a thing in Averland? And how are the state regiments raised and organized? Are they raised by the state or the local lord? since the differences between those two would significantly impact the regional powerbases.

  4. War Wagons would be an interesting unit to localize since visually at least, they need to be made of sturdy hardwoods, likely sourced in the forested-regions of the empire, Talabecland and Hochland would be a good fit for that.

Also since Total War ran with using Hochland Long Rifles, and as an explanation as to why Hochland Long Rifles are not used in other parts of the Empire. Lets say that as a traditional rivalry existed between the Hunters of Talabecland, who are obstensibly Taal worshippers, and religion of Taal worship has obstensibly influenced their culture and traditions of hunting. Maybe one way in which it does this is because Taalic scriptures (whatever they may be, the Liber Taal or something) because they were created so long ago, that they only mention bows, and some traditionalist taalites interpreted this as meaning that Guns are an abomination in the eyes of Taal or something like that. Especially given their use of hardwoods and such Talabecland bow making would probably be renowned across the Empire, and it is currently in decline owing to the popularisation in the use of firearms.

On the opposite side, in Hochland, which would have been subject to conquest by both the Middenlanders and the Talabeclanders in the past, such as during the time of Three Emperors, have a history of a people being subjected to and resenting their imperial neighbours. Their local worship of Lupos, whilst probably no longer practiced anywhere near the extent that it was in the past, alongside their resentment of the talabeclanders and middenlanders, led them to use firearms instead of bows. These firearms were produced in Nuln, but it was a hochlander who discovered the practice of rifling their barrels. So Hochlanders import Nuln guns, break them down, bore their barrels within their hunter lodges, and the reasons these are so seldom exported is because these are used as a mark of pride and resistence of Hochland to neigbouring regions. So each firearm sold beyond the fraternities of the hunters of hochland includes in its purchase contract the upkeep of a hochlander retainer whose job it is to oversee that no hochland long rifle is deconstructed for the purposes of reverse engineering, in which case the contract is null and void and the retainer takes back the weapon, as well as the general upkeep of the weapon.

This is why Hochland is renowned for its irregulars and skirmishes as responses to defending against numerically superior foes across the rough hilly; forested terrain of their forests.

Returning to the War Wagons, i don't know if averlander horses would be the best suited animals as draft animals, but war wagons usage and implementation probably favours them being a collaborative element of different military constructors of different provinces, and thus something primarily state sponsored.

An interesting thing to do would be parallel Jan Hus and the Hussite wars, that War Wagons came into being during the War of the Three Emperors when local Hochlander forces were fighting off a numerically superior and mounted Talabeclander or Middenlander force in their province, and their impromptu use of wagons allowed them to carry the day.

If one wishes to maintain the Averland connection and remove the Hochland Long Rifle units from the wagons for regular gunners, then they could simply purchase the woods. It helps to add a diversity to war wagons since now their could be variants with Pikes; Bows; Guns; Long Rifles; Cannons; Mortars and Volley Guns on them.

  5. I really am interested in how Halflings fight in wars with other provinces and defend themselves from hordes of undead and greenskins, when as far as I know, all of their established units are pretty much just joke units.

I enjoy them all the same, but it does seem a tad ridiculous.

  6. 50% of Sotek and Andy's fans apparently all had brain aneurysms at the same time and put Middenland in the same tier as Averland. Jesus christ. Obviously Reikland, Middenland, and Wissenland are your S Tiers. Like, it would take a LOT of window licking and mouth breathing to reach a level of stupidity and argue otherwise. You can even see Sotek and Andy cringe as they update the list. Yeesh.

Edit: Yeah ok. Just saw the Moot vote. I retract my previous statements. I shall keep my whoremouth shut. I clearly know nothing 😅.

  7. 3:08:00 funny in TWW empire have guns🔫 on 🐴horse and bowmen, but not horses archers 🐎 🏹. Empire can do a Mongolian builds with many options of mobile gunpowder, but lorewise, it’s a more thematic Nuln build, while Ostland is too poor to afford a Landship.

  8. I could literally listen Andy talk about Empire's (or any other Warhammer faction's) history and politics hours and hours on end. Would love to see a deep dive into each grand province's history in the future, or maybe into one of the major noble families in the Empire (if there is enough content for it, that is).

  9. Since everyone is pitching in ideas. Best Waaagh rankings. Is Grom S tier for slicing through the Empire like a hot knife through butter or is he D tier for throwing his Waaagh into the Ulthuan meat grinder? Let's find out!

  10. I do like the idea that the empire just desperately needed a generation of peace to develop, because it really does have all the building blocks it needs to become a powerful state that can knock out any of its competition; Wizards, artillery, industry, organized cults , the state troops.

  11. I know people, especially in our fantasy universe, like things to be impressive by being the best, but I think its more interesting to consider that the navies of the Old World are in a state of flux in terms of their relative power. It makes it more interesting to consider.

I think owing to the Empire's relative positioning, their Mercantile Fleets would probably be one of the poorer ones. They face extreme piracy threats from Norsca which curtails the easy expansion of the imperial merchants, and the densely forested and lightly populated northern empire is difficult to traverse to travel down to the interior of the reik basin where the wealthy cities sit. They would also struggle with trading with Tilea and Estalia via these ocean going routes as well as Araby; Ind and Cathay.

Tilea and Estalia both have a huge advantage in accessing these trade roots but they are probably a little less combat ready than the Imperial Navy, though they have more oppertunity for conflicts as part of their explorations.
