War games under the waves | Sitrep podcast

Six Nato submarines, accompanied by ships and aircraft, are playing a giant military game of hide and seek in the Mediterranean.

Nato’s Commander Submarines, U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Thomas Wall, tells us more about Exercise Dynamic Manta, and Sitrep’s Claire Sadler explains what life is like onboard one of those subs.

Vladimir Putin claims Russia now has the initiative in the Ukraine war – is he right? Professor Michael Clarke and Simon Newton explain the current battlefield picture, and Colin Freeman gives a first-hand account from one of Russia’s next targets.

And why do so many British people say they would refuse to fight for their country, despite most believing war is a real possibility within the next decade? Matt Smith from YouGov talks us through their latest research.

Kate Gerbeau presents, with expert analysis from Professor Michael Clarke.

  2. No one will risk getting killed for a government who has mismanaged the country for the last 75 years. After that war with the Germans this island would clearly lose any major war it’s involved in, you can’t rely on the Americans to help so war on this island is stupid, no people not much equipment and hardly any industry it’s suicide joining the British military. More importantly it’s redundant behaviour from history planning to blow yourselves up. This island is not worthy of violent defence. It’s a post apocalyptic disaster zone with a population of displaced foreigners who don’t want to be here I think a change of regime may be welcomed not opposed, mass emigration is also likely. Dying for politicians? Same as asking the population to die for a bunch of paedophiles. No thank you ✌️❤️🇬🇧

  3. The only time this island wins a war is when the other nation is incapable of winning a war, never any use against a nation who can win, its successes are against people with no experience and equipment and poor training, as soon as it’s a near peer situation it loses and hides behind the Americans. There’s a reason not to join the British military. It’s an abuse institution that hasn’t recovered from getting destroyed in Flanders over 100 years ago, the population still hasn’t recovered. Remember it’s the civilians left to end these things when the military don’t want to lose anymore people even though it’s the politicians and military who start these wars. Politicians are hated as a group as much as serial child sex offenders and do not deserve to be defended by the deaths of civilians in a war they started, most would emigrate and the rest would rather be in prison than defend this foreign island they have no connection to against another bunch who are no worse or better than what’s here already. What did attacking the Germans actually achieve in the 1940’s? Germany still dominates Europe, Britain is still a weak tiny island with a destroyed economy with pollution everywhere, its population has been displaced and partly destroyed. War long term achieved nothing. Only a maladjusted person with no mental integrity would say war in Britain is a good idea or attacking Russia is a good idea😃✌️❤️🇬🇧

  4. Why would you fight when we have enough ammo and supplies for about two weeks? Perhaps if we respected our Forces and funded them properly people would want to join up or fight/
