This change is expected to increase the payload capacity of the Starship, enabling it to carry larger payloads for missions to destinations like the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The base is reinforced with a complex arrangement of steel rods, creating a labyrinth-like structure. This design is intended to provide structural integrity to the launch mount and withstand the powerful forces generated during the launch, hence the pun about “withstanding a super heavy blast.” To reinforce the steel rods, they need to be bonded together with concrete. Filling the orbital launch mount base would necessitate approximately 1,000 cubic meters or 35,000 cubic feet of concrete. This is visualized by equating it to 52,834 standard buckets. The concrete would be transported using concrete mixer trucks, each capable of carrying between 6 and 10 cubic meters of concrete. For the calculation, 8 cubic meters or 282 cubic feet per truck. Based on these figures, it is estimated that SpaceX would need around 125 concrete mixer trucks to complete the concrete filling process.
The increased payload capacity and versatility of the Starship are crucial for SpaceX’s ambitious space exploration plans. The thrust was to much for the starship to separate from the booster. They should have had a contingency plan to save the starship before it got destroyed to. If that was my rocket the starship would never have blown up. They would have separated as soon as a problem started so the survival of the people who could have been on it.

It did not fail. It got off the pad and away out to sea. It demonstrated the need to do more study with the main engines. It did not make it to planed distance and such but instead had to be destroyed as not to cause any damage to the base or peoples. The next one has a 50 percent chance, so said Elon. Hot staging while accelerating will keep the fuel where it belongs and not sloshing around during any deceleration that may occur during a normal separation. In a normal separation, the booster engines shut down, then after the separation the next stage engines ignite. During that moment there is a slight deceleration that happens which forces the fuel forward. Russians solved their problem with hot staging.
