  1. For me personally I didn't mind skipping the dialogue as long as you were reading it binyot.
But I do appreciate you letting it play out because the voice acting is really nice.
Also I think the lore in this game is pretty accessible, you can get a lot from reading just only the main big items descriptions like for boss rememberance/weapons and key items, so it's not such a big dive, it's pretty minimal compared to most other games that force you into story cutscenes/dialogue for hours.

  2. I get his perspective on text and voice acted NPCs (beginning of video), I really do, and I also know people that cannot abide….ANY words….spoken or otherwise. I eat it up. But, perhaps a change in perspective could help. I've found ways to further immerse myself in movies and games over the years, which you need to do as you get older, and it's paid off. Helps you appreciate things more, see dev intention better and not mislabel good choices as poor ones. There's the lone traveler vibe people don't want to spoil….an NPC or a touch of civilization can ruin that. The joy of being survivor man. But then there's the Lord of the Rings side of the Souls games….and every lore-heavy piece of fiction ever. The people are the spice of it too. It's part of the journey. If done well, they are a part of the world itself. To indulge them, and maybe the lore tied to a ruin or an item, is to dive deeper. You're not getting "back" to the game after you dismiss or glaze over something said or written,…you were still in it while you were engaged with a component of it. Worlds of this complexity are just going to have writings, people, and dialogue. Think of them as a part of it. Now…..they can be done poorly, but they should be able to exist. Isn't it interesting how we can get excited when we spy that lone figure ahead…or stumble on a character, or a secret text….but once the reading or speaking begins we're over it. It's like, what were we excited for?

  3. I don't have a problem with magic when players use it against bosses, when someone finds a way to exploit the game it's more of the developers fault than the players, however I really really hate fighting invaders who use a barrage of magic from a distance. This wouldn't be too much of an issue, as magic is good at long range but using it at close range kinda sucks, but there are a lot of spells and builds that negate the close range weakness (Like the moonveil katana) That are obnoxious to fight. Invaders aren't too common for me, but almost every single one I have encountered use a playstyle similar to this. After DS3 though, I am happy to see magic be viable. Just kinda wish it wasn't so spammy.

  4. 7:30 this "real merit" argument in souls like games is total bs,people should play the way they find more fun period.

Some people like to one hit bosses, others like to struggle and see the bosses patterns, and some use a little bit of both.

I always felt the soul like games are like megaman, some people like to use just the buster to see the bosses move patterns and have a challenge, and others like to use the power ups to just absolutely dominate the bosses, and some uses a little bit of both.

There's no such thing as "right way or real way to play",there's just styles of plays and tastes of enjoyment.

  5. a lot of the "obliterate a boss in 1hit" magic clips are people with like maxed out int stacking a bunch of stuff to destroy bosses, which is kinda just how all the souls games tend to go

  6. with vinnys dialogue rant at the start, honestly I think this game works alot better than the souls games in terms of storytelling just due to the fact you take place actually enacting the story while its happening.

The other games usually put you in the aftermath of big events, and while that does technically happen here too, you dont really need to look at all the item descriptions to understand the backstory since the game tells you most of it from the start.
Most of the dialogue is just npcs interacting with you, since there isn't much story to tell (as you are the one making the story happen.)

the only exception i would say is the finger readers, hell ive played for almost 90 hours and i still dont understand those hags

  7. I get why people shit on mages in souls games but honestly, killing an enemy with a hyper beam is just fucking cool.
Now I probably won't ever stop playing unga bunga strongth myself but I do respect a magic bro. They're fucking cool.
Same with all kinds of magic. Doesn't matter how you're playing the game as long as you have fun. lmao

  8. I know that Vin's afraid of the NPCs in this game, but him not knowing about the smith in the hub area is the 2nd most frustrating thing I've witnessed today.

  9. I just treat the games and lore as 2 separate things. When I play, I slashy slash. When I'm interested in the lore, I boot up a video or read the wiki. Soulsborne lore is deep and interesting, but it's rarely directly related to what you're doing in the game. Fromsoft avoids writing things that directly affect or relate to your character, I imagine, to maintain the spirit of open-endedness. So it basically doesn't matter to me while I'm playing. But it's a good read/watch on its own.

  10. the idea of people hating magic users is insane to me. Firstly , the idea of killing a boss in one hit with a giant hyper beam is very funny. Secondly, who cares how someone else plays? If you want to inflict CBT gameplay to yourself so be it, but let people be cheesy with magic, its also fun in its own way and surely is not changing the way your game functions.

  11. Magic is definitely the easy mode of this game, even Vinny's setup is quite broken for early game with the Meteor Staff and Rock Sling, both of which work in tandem to do shitloads more damage than you should have at the point where he is. The Meteor Staff specifically has S scaling and outpaces every other staff until end game, when you have 60+ INT. And Rock Sling can be used to cheese so many bosses due to its insane range and tracking, plus the big damage increase when combined with the Meteor Staff.

There's no shame in it, as Magic has always been the easy mode of Souls games. At least he's not using the uber broken Moonveil Katana that cracks the game wide open for DEX/INT users, and can be gotten very easily even at the beginning. Magic in this game is awesome, though, and I hope they don't nerf it too much.

  12. epic games acquired bandcamp? oh god, I'm scared for what kinds of changes they'll be making. I love bc's batshit insane petri dish of weird music culture, but at its core, its base ideals run the exact opposite to tencent's. can't stand those greedy suck-ups and how they kiss our 🇨🇳 glorious leader's 🇨🇳 ass in the name of profits. I hope I'm just overreacting ;–;

  13. Vinny, don’t know if you’ll see this but you can get explanations of all the stats on the equipment/status screen by pushing the equivalent of select on your controller.
