UPDATE: First Amendment Auditor Unlawfully Arrested and Banned by Tyrant!

Brief Summary: In January of 2022, Jeff Gray was unlawfully arrested by the tyrant Lieutenant Arrick Furr of the Alpharetta PD for allegedly panhandling. Jeff’s fourth amendment rights were violated, and so were his first amendment rights to free speech, free press, and freedom of religion. Lieutenant Furr received an unpaid suspension for 3 days, and Honor Your Oath is currently pursuing legal actions against the Alpharetta PD…

  1. WOW, three whole days suspension without pay for numerous civil rights violations. That sets a meaningless precedent for this city. That means for a policeman murdering an innocent civilian, the punishment would be 10 days without pay?

  2. So they claim this was a gross violation of constitutional rights, yet as shift commander, he should be suspended for just 3 days. That suspension was a joke … a slap on citizens' civil rights. As you stated, demotion was the right punishment, but blue line gangsters just don't care.

  3. The basis for all of these civil rights violations is merely giving police an opportunity to do their job properly or improperly. So many of them choose, "improper" that they support over 700 auditing channels. The only thing the police would have to do to put 700 people out of business is to know their job.

  4. Basically the City helped Jeff’s case by stating in their investigation that Furr’s conduct may not survive a constitutional challenge. In other words, they admitted Furr violated Jeff’s constitutional rights.

  5. So many thoughts, but this stands out as unique among the comments –

I notice how the disciplinary report says "A consensual encounter could have given Lt. Furr the time to develop enough information to attain RAS." That statement itself is built upon the belief that Jeff was committing a crime, just not the one Furr handcuffed him for. This implies that this department trains their officers not to determine if there is actually a crime taking place, but to dig until they find a crime they can use to effect an arrest.

If the department didn't have this "assume everyone is guilty" mentality I'd expect the report to say something like "a consensual encounter could have given Lt. Furr the time to determine whether the call for service was justified and whether a crime was taking place."

Since Reed v. Town of Gilbert was in 2015, Furr has no real hope to keep qualified immunity. If the Aplharetta PD had responded properly and issued real punishment for these violations, the city and PD wouldn't be in for such a big lawsuit – demonstrating a willingness to change and improve goes a long way to lessen the ire of juries.

  6. Corrupt, low-IQ, lying, overbearing, tyrannical, thug cops work very hard to earn the hatred of law-abiding citizens. They unequivocally deserve every form of retaliation. At the very least, they should be fired for cause, criminally charged and civilly sued. Bad cops endanger the lives of good cops!

  7. Is a firefighters boot panhandling ?
Is rounding up at the local grocery store panhandling ?
Does the Red Cross panhandle every Christmas ?
Panhandling is done all year long by the rich and powerful, it’s only a problem when the poor panhandle !
