  1. 5 years of study, study, 5 to review the study, 5 years for lawsuits, another 5 years for planning = Minimum 20 YEARS TO BECOME REALITY 👎

  2. The anchor is spouting clueless talking points. This doesnt even cross the San Bernardino mountains.

Its cheaper and easier to build compared to California HIgh Speed Rail because
    1) this first phase ends in Victorville (making is almost useless for LA residents – who is going to drive 2.5 hours to then take a 1.5 hour train???).
    2) land acquisition costs are minimal in the middle of the largely uninhabited desert. Private companies cant lower land costs in the Bay Area.
    3) Phase 2 terminates in Rancho Cucamonga, still not LA.
    4) they plan no tunnels, which will limit speed and utility

f you look at their business plan, they actually plan to piggyback off CalHSR by running trains on Cal HSR tracks into Union Station at some point in the future. So without the state train, the utility of this will be limited.

  3. Lol I’m just happy it’s getting built. Originally desert express was supposed to become high speed and most of the patches are long straight ideal for a high speed train plus it will look epic from I5. Originally they wanted to end in Victorville but it’s nice to know that they acquired land for a station in ranch cuocomange which can be accessed by metro link for the high speed train. Though it’s still far from downtown LA it’s still a much better alternative than ending at Victorville
