On December 13th, United Airlines confirmed a firm order for a whopping 100 Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, boosting its current order backlog to roughly 700 aircraft. Alongside the firm order for 100 aircraft, the US carrier has also placed 100 more options for additional 787s. The carrierβs order could include all three aircraft models, the -8, -9, and -10.

Yikes thatβs a lot of debt
Hopefully the pay to their employees are good since they have that kind of money.
Imagine if Boeing made a 787-9 & 10 ER or LRβ¦β¦
This is FABULOUS NEWS! Love seeing United buckle down on more Boeing 737 MAX & 787 Dreamliners. I doubt that theyβll take all 200 787s though. I wish somebody @united would see this and at least consider and possibly commit to some of the Boeing 777X family thoughβ¦ π’ Iβd love to see them commit to even 20 777X models or so with a healthy mix of 777-8s to replace their 777-200ER models & 777-9s to replace their 777-300ERs! π
It seems likely they would do it, because they need it! Their existing fleet is decrepit.
I wish United order some B747-8i. It wouldβve been better replacement for B747-400s.
Hopefully, Boeing can redeem itself, tired of the corporate greed that comes from American companies by putting profit margins over safety. Stop cutting corners and do it the right way.
Beautiful aircraft which looks great in the United Livery. Continental really had the best livery design, I am glad United kept it post merger with only minor changes.
That's a massive 787 order, go United! The United 787s are a stunning plane to be a passenger on, quiet and comfortable
whatever… I'll believe it when I see it… wonder how much $$ went under the table for this…
I love it
United Airlines was founded by Boeing in 1931 after buying some other airlines.
So they finally buy Boeing planes. Any one wondering?
Buying big numbers to get very good prices and later reduceing those numbers, is a good way to prevent from later discussions about price dumping.
Airbus is very pleased with their mega order during the first to last quarter of 2022.
Air India will put a new mega order on 500 Airbus jets
Half of the aviation world knows how corrupt Boeing is.
Remember, The CSeries of Bombardier is almost ruined because Boeing sanction the jet.
I wonder about the discount they're getting.
Well considering that some of these dreamliners are scheduled to replace 777s, they may need more than they have now just to give the capacity. They have 777s that seat 350+ and the 787s seat nowhere near that. I'm surprised they didn't through a few 777x's in the mix to replace the higher capacity 777s.
Iβll believe it when I see it, those numbers are crazy
The B787 order is to replace the B767's and older B777-200's and the B737 MAX orders is to replace the B737-700 and older B737-800's.
rEeEe bUt tHe a321 iS bEtTeR!!!!!!!
People don't realize that the 737MAX and A321neo are conceptually the same plane, just that the neo has more fuel tanks. Tired of all these mindless Airbus fanboys
I'm glad that with an order like this Boeing will be around for decades to come. I only wish they added some 747-8s so they can continue with the production. The 787-10 is not big enough for them in some routes.
Congrats for UAL on these big orders B737 max newest and B787 glad Boeing then Airbus. Good for American workers.
Great news
Pretty sad the 777-9 is kinda left out by united π₯²
Beautiful
Amazing to see such a clean, confident plan to put the best equipment possible in place. Airline evolution is usually in more fits and starts, but this one becomes the leader on so many levels. Great that United is putting that money into the US economy. $43bn is not pocket change, after all. I hope they go ahead with the A350 order, too.
Just because of the 787-8 I think as the 777, A330, and. 767 retired from service that small, medium, and low cost airlines will be likely to order more 787 because they donβt need the larger 777 or A350 and the 787 is really hot right now with passengers. The status symbol has changed from the largest planes running at a loss to being more carbon friendly and on board service and seating. Iβm also guessing it will be another 20-30 years before a 767 sized aircraft will be made for less dense long haul travel.
Not a bad idea to have the order ready for after the recession. However, I wonder how they are going to get capital for this order under current conditions.
Waiting for Air India's massive order
Excellent choice United. The best carrier having the best plane for twin aisle and the best single aisle aircraft. The best in range, comfort and reliability. I hope every airlines follow suit. If ain't Boeing, the world won't be going.
Good confidence but as we have seen in the 737Max debacle it's highly risky for such a big carrier. They depend a lot on a single aircraft type.
When will it be AA orders ??
Oh if they werenβt such a crappy airline, Iβd be excited about this. When an airline strands your daughter in a foreign city, you donβt soon forget.
Congratulations United ππππππππ
I thought Boeing was going bankrupt
In french we say "the tree which hide the forrest, of the disaster". > The Boeing 777X has no engine available today due to a failure during a flight test. > The 737 Max 7 and 10 are obliged to have an EICAS for certification.
The only thing of interest to me is the seat pitch. A new plane or an old plane doesn't matter as long as I have seat room.
Well that's throwing good money after bad… Till Boeing get a grip on all the programs, anyone placing firm orders for anything should avoid Boeing.
I was hoping to hear United ordering 777x, but once 777x gets certified let's which airline from the US does order 777x first
Thanks thumbs up for United, I live in Texas my favorite airline, let's go.
Glad too hear that UNITED purchase of BOEING aircraft.I can't to fly on one of those aircraft
This is a great and massive order from United! π
