Today we’re going over UNEXPECTED CHANGES Coming to Heroic Dungeons! In this Heroic+ Titan Rune Guide

With news that Heroic+ or Titan Rune Heroic Dungeons are coming in Phase 2, you might be wondering what exactly is different, how hard is it, and is it worth doing? And that’s exactly what we’re going to go through today.

The reason you might want to run Heroic+ or Titan Rune Heroics is because bosses in Titan Rune Heroics drop 10 man NEO epics in addition to their regular loot – that means Malygos, Sartherion, and all the Naxxramas bosses drops in 10 man. We saw some pretty sweet drops, and the last boss of each Titan Rune Heroic drops a tier piece of Heroes, not Valorous since it’s 10 man gear.

Also, once phase 2 drops, the daily heroic quest that rewards valor emblems will be upgraded and now reward conquest emblems, meaning players will still want to run the daily heroic, so why not run the Heroic+?

To get started, you just need to enter a heroic dungeon, and have the whole group right click and channel on the mysterious object until you see a glow appear on it. You can also look at monsters and see they have a new permanent buff, which is different depending on the dungeon.

Within Utgard keep and Utgard Pinnacle this buff is called Frost Rune – This Increases damage by 30%, health by 100%, And gives MELEE attacks a chance to Glaciate a random nearby target. This causes the target to generate a path of frost causing movespeed slow, and periodic damage. You have 5 stacks of this magic effect, and it’s not worth dispelling, just move around to remove stacks quickly, and dont spread it near where you need to move later. The reason it’s not worth dispelling because there are 5 stacks and that’s too many globals to waste, and also it goes away pretty fast if you just move. If you stand still, you take a lot of damage actually, so make sure to actually move if you get this debuff.

The Violet Hold, Oculus and Nexus all get the Arcane Rune – Increased damage by 30%, health by 100% and all attacks have a chance to summon mirror images of the caster – these images die in 1 hit, but they do full damage. The damage adds up, so take care of them quickly – aoe doesn’t work on them. You should immediately switch to the mirror images so your healer doesn’t get overwhelmed. This also applies to bosses, so make sure to switch targets to the mirror image fast, or you could wipe.

In Azjol-Nerub and Old Kingdom monsters have Shadow Rune once activated – it Increases damage by 30%, health by 100%, and gives them a chance to web wrap a victim. Lots of webwraps here, just need to destroy them as fast as you can. Helps having pets or mage mirror images, so that they can eat the wrap. It seems like it’s a bug, but the web wrap almost always went onto death knight ghouls when I was running it. It will probably be more random during release, but still having those extra enemy characters to eat the web wrap I imagine will help.

Gundrak and Drak’Theron Keep have the Blood Rune – Increased damage by 30%, health by 100%
It grants 100% lifesteal when standing in blood of the loa. Move the mobs out of the aoe.

Halls of Stone and Halls of Lightning: Titan Rune – 5% damage buff, 190% health buff, gives debuff called titanic power which increases damage taken by 2% and damage done by 1% per stack and keeps stacking. It can be removed by effects that make you invulnerable, like Divine Protection.

Stratholhm: Plague Rune: 30% increased damage 100% increased health
Infects players with the zombie plague, eventually turning into a zombie

Shields that absorb damage prevent the zombie plague from being applied. It’s a disease so any class that can cleanse disease can remove it – Priests, Paladins, or Shaman are all great for this. Priest shields to prevent application in the first place, sacred shield from the paladin, and cleansing totem will all help a lot to make this very easy. If you don’t have any of those, you also get more than 20 stacks of stratholme holy water to divide amongst your group. I’m not sure that will be enough to last the entire instance if you have no other means to remove disease, so you should probably take at least 1 class that can remove diseases if you’re going to do heroic+ culling of stratholme.

If you do somehow become a zombie after having the disease for a minute, then you get a whole new set of abilities, just like zombie from the wrath pre-patch event. Obviously if you become a zombie and start attacking your group, I don’t see that going very well. Probably best to just isolate yourself and zombie explode yourself to get rezzed and keep progressing.

After running these dungeons I honestly have to say – even with the blue gear, these dungeons were really easy. A group of players who know how to play the game won’t have any trouble at all with…

  1. Hi question! I've been hoarding frozen orbs (I have about 22), should I sell them now or keep them for phase 2? I was told I can exchange them for the new orb that comes out in phase 2, and then sell those for higher profit, but idk if that's true or a thing. What should I do with them? Thanks ❤️

  2. I don't think they will take twice as long. That's basically a worst case scenario. In reality you spend a good amount of time traversing the dungeon and waiting for rp events (during boss fights). Also, often you have dmg ramp up mechanics which make normal heroic fights too short to properly deal damage. My guess is that it'll be closer to a 50% increase. But I'd love to hear your thoughts on this.
