  1. Can we spend a moment and appreciate Monte who is happy to help his friends and even dresses up when appearing on TV? He seems like a great friend and looks dashing!

  2. Owner: "I'm calling in a professional trainer because my dog is out of control."
Owner, later: "I'm not going to do what the professional trainer says because I know my dog."
What you think you know of your dog is what got you into this mess.
    Duh!

  3. That's so many dogs get screwed up and then dumped at the shelter because of behavioral issues. Glad they got help with Victoria. Prayers they will continue caring and training him the right way so he won't end up as an unadoptable dog at the shelter.

  4. I adopted a dog like this on a trial basis from a couple. I straightened her out. I exercised her, with help, for two hours a day. I couldn’t keep up and she ran away several times. I gave her back to the couple. She didn’t chew any more and had settled down. She just needs two hours of exercise every day!

  5. The look on Latoya's face when Victoria mentioned not getting the dog in the first place… she will continue to get dogs regardless of if she really has the time for them. Dogs (especailly puppies) require a ton of your time. They aren't couch ornaments that you walk around the block occasionally, play tug of war with and then can ignore the rest of the time. Puppies (pets in general) aren't impulse buys because they have a "cute face", they are living, breathing creatures that require a ton of time, money and energy.

Latoya also can't let go of the idea that you have to "rough house" with a dog to "bond" with it. There are 32423432 other things she can do to bond with the dog that don't set the dog up for failure. I wish Victoria had explained in more detail what could happen if she doesn't stop rough play. Yeah, Monte is great and tolerates the dog's behavior some but other people won't be as accepting. If you don't stop the "rought housing" and he decides to "rought house" with a child that visits and bites said child, you are going to be in a whole world of hurt.

She is totally capable of the training, but she needs to drop the "I know better than this expert" attitude and listen, otherwise, the dog is the one who will suffer the consequences.
