Unboxing – Symphony of War

This was a game I picked up recently on a sale that has good reviews. It seems to be one of many games that are created using RPG Maker, but I’m not entirely sure of that. That said, I will note that what I expected to be a party-based RPG with a JRPG feel turned out to be a tactical war game.

There’s a little bit of the strategy side of things in the way taking optional objectives opens up new options for later on down the line, and I’m sure some people would call it a turn-based strategy game. But the truth is that the strategy side of things appears to be mostly railroading you along.

Perhaps things change as you get deeper into the story, hard to say, but right now your character isn’t really making decisions. You get told which battles to fight, and your control is limited to the build of your army and the tactics you apply in each mission.

This video is posted under fair use laws as a commentary on the video game and a showcasing on methods of clearing each section.
