Ultimate Charge

Every nuance you never wanted to know about ult charge in Overwatch 1 and Overwatch 2.

CORRECTION: At 5:17, there are two more heroes that fit into this category. Zarya can gain ult charge in the time between using grav and the grav deploying. Reinhardt can gain ult charge in the time between using earthshatter and the hammer hitting the ground. (thanks McMagicMarv and ax2com)

  1. The reasons so.diers gives ult charge is simple, his ult doesnt cause damage, it is simply aimbot, so you are reflecting his standard gunfire not an ultimate, unlike mcree or reaper as their ultimates cause damage.

  3. Maybe you already though about this, but could you explain how POTG woks with more detail? Like, does it depend on character role, chain kills, saving your team by healing, etc. Really enjoying your content!

  4. Sombra's probably also hasn't changed in OW2 because that 40% increase in damage from hack is negligible when considering you alert the enemy team to your presence when you cast a hack. You either have to be out of LOS and uncloak and hack so that you can shoot right after and risk getting interrupted (just like OW1)… or you hack from invis, then you have to go through the uncloak animation to take advantage of that 40% (and, by that time, the whole enemy team knows you're there if they're communicating), so you probably have to escape before that 40% increase was even worth the damage downtime (vs. just shooting right away).

NGL, unless you have someone isolated to duel, I'd still say to just decloak and spray and get that damage going as soon as possible… unless you're in a group and you can coordinate hack with someone else's ability (or you want to hack an ult from invis).
