The Belgium sniper squad won 1st place in the 2017 European Best Sniper Squad competition, September 24-28 at the Grafenwoehr Training Area, Germany. Sixteen squads participated in the competition, including two U.S. teams. The U.S. Army Europe competition, organized by the 7th Army Training Command, was the second annual European Best Sniper Squad Competition. The sniper squad from Sweden took 2nd place and the squad from Czech Republic took 3rd place. Countries that participated: Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom. The U.S. squads were: 173rd Airborne Brigade, Vicenza, Italy and 2nd Cavalry Regiment, Vilseck, Germany.
