Ugonna Onyenso transferring out of Kentucky | Sources Say

Kentucky men’s basketball has lost another player to the transfer portal as news broke on Wednesday that freshman center Ugonna Onyenso will leave the program after a limited role in 2022-23.

Where does Kentucky go next? Is Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson an option? KSR’s Jack Pilgrim and Zack Geoghegan are here to break it all down!

  1. Ya'll are crazy saying we shouldn't try and go get Dickinson. No player is perfect they all have flaws. There's not too many guys that are 7 feet tall and that skilled. He's not elite defensively but he's not bad either. He's better defensively than Oscar.

  2. Everybody talking about how much Oscar could make in NIL somewhere else(and how much he made this year): isn't oscar severely limited in what he can make because of the student Visa?

  3. That’s exactly wat ky has bn missing is Somme real dogs ! True Ballers. We need players with attitude and confidence and this team has that ! Bring in some dogs from the portal ! Dickinson is one and Reeves is a baller !

  4. I would love to have Hunter just because he has the ability to improve his 3pt shot. An include Ke’lel too “maybe” would be great to go into July with

  5. I feel we need 2 more PF/C. Just because I believe Bradshaw will be in foul trouble throughout the season just because that strength for the defensive end isn’t there so that’s why I believe Hunter would be better and work and I’d love Ke’lel and the guy from Tennessee

  6. But I think the big “sale” to these Covid guys other then NIL is chances of winning. Why go to a school where ur just getting the money why not come to a school like Kentucky where you’re getting the Opportunity to makes a decent amount of money and have a high chance of winning?

  7. I'm not worried about bigs Bradshaw nice shot blocker , Lance toughness n Edwards at 5 smallball be an upgrade quicker feet on perimeter. Those 3 defensive uprgrade. Get Sallis another big skilled guard insurance for others. BBN

  8. Thank you, Jack and Zach.

I have a question about Ware – I've heard people say that Ware doesn't love basketball. Cal's best players have been obsessed with basketball, the guys who didn't love basketball make me think of Marcus Lee and Alex Poythress – quality guys who were very good, but they were also very well rounded and weren't they type who would ever be in the gym all the time, simply because they have other interests. Would Ware be a good fit?

  9. There is a sickness within the UK basketball and football teams. Some kind of abusive and/or toxic environment that is preventing Kentucky from becoming a stable winning program in either sport.

For all of us watching this video…we will not see another NCAA basketball championship in our lifetime. Sad but true.

  10. I'd love to see Robert Dillingham in a UK uniform next year. If he's truly willing to do the work and embrace the grind that it takes to play at Kentucky. And if he's able to take in the coaching that he'll be receiving. I think he could become a dynamic player for UK. I've watched his highlights and I think he's a unbelievable talent. He can be a lil bit streaky at times when it comes to his shooting and his shot selection. But when he's on…he's on. And when he's really locked in and engaged…he's truly electric. His ball handling skills and his ability to take and make highly contested jump shots is something spectacular to watch. But if he really does walk to his own beat like ppl are saying he does. And just does whatever Rob feels like doing on that day. Then idk if he'll be a great fit on next year's team. If he is more about himself rather than putting the team or his teammates first like some media have suggested. Then him being on the team…no matter how talented he is…could be a bad thing and derail the expectations and chemistry of next year's team. If he's constantly causing issues like talking back or fighting back with the coaching staff. Or if he's constantly arguing with the coaching staff or his teammates. Then that could cause a major rift within the team and locker room. And could end up actually dividing this team. And if his work ethic is lacking like some media members are suggesting and he's not willing to put in the work needed or work as hard as the rest of his teammates. And give the type of effort that his coaches and teammates are demanding from him…then it will only cause major problems and tension within the team as well. Team chemistry and trusting in one another is a major factor in the making of any great team. Something that all us UK fans are hoping for in next year's team. But it's super hard if not almost impossible for any team…no matter how talented they are…to overcome a toxic locker room or a toxic player. And that could upend and make for a bad season for the team…not to mention for us fans. So I'm really hoping that Rob comes in and does everything that is asked of him as he shares his unbelievable talent here in Lexington as this team brings home #9. If not…Rob stay away from Lexington and good luck in your future lol

  11. Man I hate that Ugonna is leaving, I've always said that he will be a star wherever he ends up. He is a special player and whoever gets him will have a heck of a rim protector. Ironically that is exactly what Cal needs and he is leaving. 🤦 I don't think hunter will be a good PC, I would rather see Damion Collins or Oscar return. Or get the Ware kid. Cal has a really talented core of players coming in and now he needs to surround them with good veteran role players. If he can do that he can have a heck of a bounce back year. But the freshman Alone won't be enough to win a championship.

  12. They need a cap on NIL by the students years in college, should help some kids stay. Never thought college basketball would turn into the NBA. Livingston has a good agent so he’s leaving Collins should go also but we will be alright I believe in Cals ability to recruit even in the portal. My problem is Cal blowing next year’s opportunity coaching.

  13. It's unfortunate that Onyennso doesn't even get to make his own decisions regarding his basketball future. He's a good young man. I wish him well in whatever he does in the future.

  14. i think kentucky might regret this one if they're not careful. I've watched this guys highlights and i am struck by his defensive mindset. this guy if he goes to like the big east could be in the final four next year to haunt kentucky!!! kentkcy better know what they're doing here!!!! this guy can play and can get way better. he hasn't reached his peak, and he moves really well. i think this is the guy who could haunt KY!!!!

  15. I said all season long that Cal wasn't playing him enough and that he would leave after the season. Cal loses a ton of guys due to lack of playing time. It wouldn't have hurt Cal to play him a few minutes every game….not only for his psyche, but to give the fan base a better look at him to gauge what we have, and if losing him would be a big loss. I think time will show that this is going to be a big loss. If Hunter Dickinson comes that will obviously lessen the blow, but as of now it's a pretty big blow.
