A new trailer for Twisters came out during the Super Bowl, and the movie will be in theaters on July 19, 2024.
Twisters will be directed by Lee Isaac Chung and written by Mark L. Smith. It’s not a direct sequel to the 1996 film but a new part of the series. The story follows Kate Cooper, played by Daisy Edgar-Jones, who used to chase storms but now studies them from New York City. She’s brought back to the open plains by her friend Javi, played by Anthony Ramos, to try a new tracking system. There, she meets Tyler Owens, played by Glen Powell, a social-media star who loves chasing storms with his wild crew.
As the storm season gets more intense, they face dangerous storms converging over central Oklahoma, fighting for their lives.
The cast includes Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, Sasha Lane, Kiernan Shipka, Harry Hadden-Paton, Nik Dodani, Tunde Adebimpe, Katy O’Brian, and David Corenswet. Steven Spielberg is the executive producer through Amblin Entertainment, and it’s produced by Frank Marshall and Pat Crowley.
The original Twister, directed by Jan de Bont, followed storm chasers Bill and Joanne Harding during a severe tornado outbreak in Oklahoma.
