When the Escanaba & Lake Superior Railroad left their train on the main and proceeded north to the Iron Mountain Fire Department, I knew something must be wrong. Firemen pulled a firehose to ELS 402 and began helping the crew on the train. After they were done, the crew started ELS 402 (GP38) and went back for the train.

Lack of basic maintenance and daily inspection of the locomotive.shame on them!
The firefighters are filling the water reservoir tank. Since locomotive radiators use only water and the water level lowers below normal a low water light and alarm will sound in the cab and the locomotive is designed to shut down. ELS is fortunate to have the cooperation of Iron Mountain FD and the location is convenient, track side. Good catch on this one.😎🚂✝
Very cool video love watching
Awesome Catch!!!
I would love to go back in time and see E&LS 402 as a new unit in Sept. 1969 as Penn Central 7772 and E&LS 503 new in Jan. 1970 as GTW 5915.
that railroad equipment is getting tired and need to bring rails up to par also. sad on some of their lines
Hello, Jason those cylinder hoppers are used on MOW for ballast so if you like to see them in action find out where they will be and will love to see them in action.
That's amazing that you're the one that felled film that video that was totally wild
Those orange and yellow cars have an x after the letters, which means they are a private company car
Wow that was pretty cool watching the fire department helping out railroad. Do you know what those orange and yellow cars hold? Sure are nice and bright cars.
What do the colored hoppers Carrie
👍#942🇺🇸🤳🚂🚂🏃💨❤
Im hoping they are watering the cooling system. In not sure id atick a water hose in a locomotive.
Well if the tracks run right next to the Firehouse, that was good strategic thinking on the part of the crew. Good communication, cuz the firefighters were ready when they arrived.
How often does that happen? We'll bring the fire to you.
When ATSF 3751 went to Chicago in Sept 92, they got their tender topped off by the Wellington Fire Dept tender.
What was wrong? A fire or just low on water?🥴
Yeah those engines have a low water and oil button… it’ll pop out and shit the engine off… By rule we can only reset it once
Helping oot the railroad? What is an oot?
I’m counting all of the FRA, OSHA, and Railroad safety violations going on here. FRA expects Engines to leave the yard with a good water glass, and no leaks.
The crewman swung down off the side of the boardwalk. No vests. Other than that, it’s pretty cool.
I’ve never been very impressed with this railroad’s professionalism.
Question: what is the bell used for on the locomotive?
Is iron mountian a vol or paidfire dept
Old Conrail Engine
A nice 42 car train
