TransMadeira Day3. A mega mountain mission.
A big shift in the morning – 2 longggg stages. A VERYYYYYY big shift then two more stages. I’d been told that stage 3 was one of the best tracks I’ll ever ride in my life so was seriously looking forwards to that through the day and it was indeed a rare treat!
The day started in Frnchal the capital of Madeira in the South and eded in the NorthWest after traversing over the mountains in the middle. With a fair bit of hike a bike, a fair bit of pedalling, some cool bits of undulating trails and some tunneling through levadas and along some cliffs inbetween tracks. Some of the trails in the race are only allowed mountain bikes for this race week (I;m not exactly sure which ones) and they are hard work to reach so it felt like a real treat to be riding everything that was served up on day 3!

Looking at the blue sky, dreaming of loam while seating at my desk, that's exactly what I need to down my productivity a bit more. Thanks !
Great videos, trails look amazing! Love the contrast between the nice articulate overlaid commentary versus the live footage “ya C@nt!” Tremendous!! 👊🏻❤️
Super sweet! Planning to visit Madeira next yr.. Thanks for uploading these vidz of yours!
Is it true that stage 3 is only open during TRANSMadeira race?
i wonder two things. who are these humans who build a track that is really dangerous, not only difficult and why do you fancy to ride it. great video, good feeling for madeira, had no idea how it looks. and i love it that you are a scotsman, was quite a few times in scotland and if i were younger would to all the ways, west highland, east highland, rob roy, great glen etc. give my love to scotland, greetings from swiss woman living in germany
Papa is that you?
Great to watch! It's so hard in a short video to show much of a monster day 3 actually is and how many hours you are out for. To the point that you have already forgotten how good the first 2 stages are by the time you get to the start of stage 3! 🤣 Looking forward to day 4.
Great videos, the riding looks amazing. A Madeira trip will have to be booked!! keep them coming.
