I just use cactus fruit to supplement food after the hunting lodges are no longer enough. Usually comes around year 6 or so when even with a sheep farm spam it’s not enough to support your pop. No mushroom farms or other viable food source so it seems like the best option.

How does this faction compare to duchies in multiplayer?
Aren't those sheep ranches on desert tiles? Or what area is that, that you could place them there?
