  1. This is most probably not a unique idea but i think this mode would be amazing in a cup of the day format as when you come to the knockout stages there would be a risk and reward element where for example if you complete the map in 3 minutes with no respawns you rank higher than someone who completes the map in 2 minutes but with 1 or more respawns (obviously there would have to be a time limit so you don’t have to wait for someone lining up a jump or something for 10 minutes).

  2. Respawns should, if anything, add time to the timer…. just counting respawns is a bit dumb…. goes afk at the start for a week just to 1 shot the track and be tied with people that did it in 10seconds

  3. Back in the days of Original TM and Sunrise Extreme, platform mode was actually more what TM was about for me than going fast. Spending hours figuring out maps was its own reward for me at the time. I wouldn't mind the timer for an additional level of competition on those maps either.

  4. the video is a bit too much cut and zooming on his face imo, before editings with buckley, elensar and bass left more of a sense of continuation
like many of the author runs are not even shown, and many of the first runs one the map just cut when he doesnt talk so the viewer has no idea what the track looks like
The editing was really great before, please dont turn it into a scrappie style editing where everything is cut and you cant even understand what the map is

  5. I can understand to some extent though. If you add a timer, like that chatter says, it becomes a normal map with respect to replayability. Sure Wirt’s example works. You get 25 second 1 respawn, someone else gets 40 second 0 respawn, they beat you. But like all the best runs that we strive for, respawns are not good. So like every other map, you would try again until you get a good time no respawn run. And that’s just how normal maps works. And now this added feature simply becomes a way to filter the low end of the leaderboard and nothing else

  6. I play a free mobile game called "Flow Free" where you have to connect same-colored pairs of dots on a grid with lines that do not cross each other. In theory, you could try around different approaches until you find the right one, causing you to have more moves, but logically, the final "perfect" score will always be connecting X pairs in X line-drawing moves. And yes, after a while, you get so good at "just seeing the solution" that you can complete the first 30 levels all perfect in one go. But it doesn't matter. It's just a nice little puzzle where the completion is the goal, and there's no additional motivation beyond achieving perfection but it's still a fun challenge to do.

  7. Replayability is solved by increasing difficulty. Once it takes you 200+ tries to finally get the author medal, you've played the map enough that you don't need to play it again. It also means not many people will be at the top with 0 respawns. It would kinda be like no death runs of Dark Souls. It's enough just to do it, regardless of the time.

  8. This has already existed in other games, like Trials, where you have both respawn counter and timer, i.e. if you wanted Author medal, you needed to get 0 respawns and 20 secs, for gold maybe 25 secs and a max of 2 respawns, and so on. I think that makes things more interesting and would be the better thing

  9. Ngl this video seems extremly over edited. It's really hard to keep track whats happening on the gameplay. I know the editor took alot of time editing this but cutting out 4 min of the 7 total min of gameplay, makes the video extremly nauseating for the first 5 maps he played.

  10. But if they add a timer then it’s literally the Same as every other game mode ever. This feels like something in track mania actually made with casual players in mind and not elite gamers who grind 1000 hours to get 3 seconds off a time with a rare bug

  11. I think this is so interesting that wort would want to add a timer to a mode like this, in a game where the leaderboards have the top 20 on basically every map be the same 20 guys who bought specialized $2k equipment to make it nearly physically impossible to beat their scores without similar equipment

  12. this would make sense for the largest maps like climbing high towers consisting of many stages. there zero used "supports" is a statistic worth noting. additionally such advanced maps would become more widely available.
