Posted video title: "Top Ten Conspiracy Theories." Number actually mentioned: Five. Another conspiracy? 🤔
😉
Just having some fun — mistakes happen, and to be fair, the title in the video itself correctly cites only five.
More seriously:
Yeah, these are all good examples of a credulous, unscientific, uncritically-thinking, and/or ill-informed populace.😉It's sad and downright frightening that there are so many more.
I was prepared in advance to pounce on the overused and misused phrase "conspiracy theory," because it has come to mean, inappropriately, any crazy idea, whether or not there's any conspiring by some nefarious group of people involved. Even worse, "conspiracy" (alone, minus "theory") has also come to mean "crazy idea." It's just another example of the way word meanings evolve, thanks in part to the same ignorance that allows these crazy, baseless ideas to spread. ("Literally," for example, has been overused and misused to the point where it now means "figuratively" — its opposite! — to many people.)
But kudos to you. I think the phrase was appropriately used in this video, because in each example there is an implication of some powerful group of people working secretly and twiddling their Snidely Whiplash mustaches.
Last comment while I'm on my soapbox: It's fascinating to me that some of the same people who will gullibly believe in chemtrails, Jewish space lasers, astrology, one of the hundreds of gods invented by humans, microchips in vaccines, or a flat earth, are capable of skepticism, healthy or otherwise; they just use it selectively. They will, for example deny that human-caused global warming & climate change exist, that humans (like all other living things) evolved from other life forms, or that there are numerous honest, well-intentioned, kind, respectable, moral people of all races, nationalities, political parties, and religious beliefs (or lack thereof).
you missed out on the sovcits who think/believe that laws do to apply to them.
That was only 5…where's the rest?
