TNA Against All Odds 2006 Review

Christian Cage fulfills his destiny in a ridiculously overbooked main event, and Joe/Styles/Daniels deliver another fantastic three way.

  1. There's an awful lot going on with this PPV logo, the spade with wings and Christian's face in the middle, okay then.
Roderick Strong worked way more TNA shows than I ever remember.
Seeing Jay Lethal before he becomes Black Machismo is a weird sight.
Out with 3LK, in with the James Gang and LAX, still garbage all around. LAX by the way already in its second iteration. First it was Homicide and Apollo, here it's Homicide and Machete, then eventually we get Homicide and Hernandez.
Chris Sabin and Sonjay Dutt is an interesting pairing to have go for the tag titles.
The falls count anywhere match was awesome, like I said, I liked the Rhino/Abyss matches.
Another classic 3 way between AJ, Joe and Daniels. Not on par with the Unbreakable match but that's a ridiculously high bar to beat.
3D against Roode and Eric Young, guess they needed a bathroom break between that awesome last match and well, the Jarrett match.
The main event was a typical Jeff Jarrett main event but to its credit, one of the better matches because Jeff actually decided to do business and let the other guy go over. They really pulled no bullshit with Christian Cage, they knocked it out of the park with him. What an awesome moment for Christian, his first world title win elevating him from that mid carder in WWE to full fledged main eventer not just in TNA, but when he went back to WWE as well. Crazy what happens when you simply build someone up the world title and then pull the trigger on them.
