TIGER I | LEGEND or FAILURE?!

The Tiger I tank, officially known as the Panzerkampfwagen VI Tiger Ausf. E, was a formidable German heavy tank used during World War II. It was developed in response to encountering Soviet tanks such as the T-34 and heavy KV series tanks, which outmatched existing German tanks in terms of armor and firepower. The Tiger featured thick armor plating, with up to 100mm on the front of the hull and turret. This made it highly resistant to most anti-tank weapons of its time. The main armament of the Tiger was the 8.8 cm KwK 36 L/56 gun, which was highly effective against Allied tanks and had excellent armor penetration capabilities. Despite its impressive firepower and armor, the Tiger tank had some drawbacks. It was heavy, weighing around 57 tons. Its maintenance requirements were also significant, and mechanical breakdowns were quite common. The Tiger tank saw action on both the Eastern and Western Fronts of World War II. It played a significant role in several major battles, including the Battle of Kursk, where it was deployed in large numbers.

But was it a success? Did the investment in the Tiger yield satisfactory results? Or was it a failure, rather wasting resources and making the war end sooner than it would have otherwise? Join us and find out!
