THIS is why Marvel Legends is Hated…

As collectors, we’ve all at least once, forgot about a pre-order we placed out of impulse. My current greivance is the new Spider-Man 2 PS5 Gamerverse Spider-Man, which caused quite a stir amongst the Marvel Legends community. I figured I’d turn lemons into lemonade and use this figure to illustrate the current state of Hasbro’s branch and the ire its drawn from long-time Spidey fans.

  1. I am so glad that all you so called fans, collectors, YouTubers have all graduated from business school, all have design and engineering degrees, law and licensing degrees and have all the acumen knowledge and experience to explain how the toy industry works. Also how a billion dollar publicly traded company works. The fact is none of you have any idea how this all works or functions. So here is a free tip if you don’t like a company a toy line or the price they charge or the way the company packages their products DONT BUY IT! For Fuck sake all you YouTubers and so called fans do is complain about everything. Why do you collect toys or even have this as a hobby if all you do is complain about it?

  2. Normally, I just collect Black Series figures. However, I've also been a fan of the Fantastic Four for a long, long time. It's a faded and subtle fandom but it's there. So, I must admit, I have a few Fantastic Four Marvel Legends. I don't have the fabled Haslab Galactus though. I'd rather sleep in bed with my girlfriend than on the couch with Galactus, which would certainly happen if I spent that much money on a toy. I like my girlfriend. She looks like Britney Spears, only without the psychosis.

  3. I think the PS4 version is a Spider-Man UK buck, except for the chest. This costed $23? A friendly stranger mentioned that this figure was charging $30 when it first came out, and it was a Gamestop exclusive. This new PS5 version is a good figure, I just wish it came with two identical hands on both sides, one for crawling hands and one for thwipping hands. I also wish it came with two different unmasked heads, one Peter head sculpt from the first game, and a new Peter head sculpt in part 2 game. If it included those, then $37 would've been worth it. (I HATE RYV Spider-Man head sculpt. It's the WORST Spider-Man head sculpt ever made, imo, so this SM2 game head sculpt is a major improvement)

  4. Recently I've cleaned the 🤡 makeup and stopped buying repaints and characters I don't know. Being a completest was fun until I noticed the mid figs I spent so much money on were just collecting dust.

  5. I don't care for the PlayStation designs, but I still think it deserved to have the details rendered into the body like the Miles Morales figure. Not just painted.

  6. They see what people are paying in the aftermarket’s. It’s ridiculous for some of these items. I recently got my first marvel legends Spider-Man. It was renew your vows from the two pack. And I got Toby sh figuarts. Spider-Man. I like the Renew your vows much much better. All these toy companies are ripping us off.

  7. This was a big old nothing of a review. On a side note, using "big" words to sound smarter than you are doesn't work if you use 90% of them incorrectly. It just makes your review unnecessarily longer.

  8. The miles morales was spot on to the game, But These are both crap. It’s marvel legends so yeah. I would have never payed $55 for either of these. I may just be spoiled to mafex, but I never can figure out why people hype up marvel legends so much. The sculpt isn’t bad, but neither of these are accurate to the game. They missed so many details they got right on miles morales. Makes no sense

  9. Goodness I’ve learned a few things in a short period of time… since October when I got my first figures as a beginner collector. I don’t collect Marvel figures but I’ve some experience with Star Wars which made me jump into the Vintage Collection rapidly after seeing that Black Series Kenobi Vader.

The Renew Your Vows Spider-Man included THREE sets of hands including the ones by default on the figure AND a swappable head, same for MJ’s Spinneret. In Canada, the set is $85 CAD (some say 80, others say 90 so average).

Now the Marvel Spider-Man 2’s hero has two extra hands that aren’t mirrored… a few web accessories… If it was $35 CAD, that would be fine. In fact, for a quality 6inch figure, this would be amazing since both Black Series and McFarlane also have their own shares of issues along with the price but a good figure is always worth it when factoring in accessories, sculpting, articulations and brand.

It is $50 CAD. FIFTY!!! So imagine for a second. Two hands that aren’t mirrored but found on another packaged Spider-Man that is more expensive but gives you double the number of figures… no swappable head despite the hero potentially showing his face for story segments or cutscenes… is $50 CAD before taxes and potential shipping which ends up being $60 or $65… even $70 in the worst case scenario and we’re not talking about retro packaging for collectors.

Again, $35 USD for this “Marvel Gaming Greats Legends” Spider-Man… and $63 USD at BBTS for the Renew Your Vows… This is the definition of laziness and that is a shame from Hasbro.

Yet Hasbro can do a near impeccable Black Series Cal Kestis for Jedi Survivor at the same price and offer a completely new sculpt except for the BD-1 droid. And for $20, Vintage Collection has a Cal Kestis with new sculpt and modern articulations. They can do it right when it counts!

Marvel fans are being robbed with this Spider-Man and would be better off saving for the Renew Your Vows bundle or wait for a permanent discount until the game comes out and eventually gets discounted as well.

  10. Sees the picture of Spiderman from PS5 game: "Oh, cool. Maybe ill buy one for me and my brother who loves the first game."
Sees price: "$36.99?! What the heck is this over priced @#$&! It looks so cheap, has no sculpted detail, and the paint isn't that good! I'll just buy an SHF or a NECA figure for that price!"
Does anyone know where i can get the Marvel Select PS4 Spiderman figure so i can give my money to a company that deserves it?

  12. It really annoys me how both these figures have parts that are accurate but also miss crucial details. Either are completely accurate to the game and I am so confused how they messed up this new one. Miles was an amazing figure so why can’t they get the main character right?

  13. Unless he goes on a heavy sale im not touching. Im really disappointed in Hasbro for thier decisions here, feels like they let their feelings get in the way of this figure
I understand if someone doesn't like any of these design choices from the game but more of us do than don't and we keep getting nonsense for a hefty price or not available anymore

  14. The issue with marvel legends is that they reuse plenty of body molds but rarely add anything new to them. No shading, no new accessories, nothing. They don’t even lower the price, they actually increased it by $10! And it’s these kinds of scummy practices that make them so hated. If you look at something like sh figuarts they reuse plenty of their goku body molds but they actually add new unique faces and paint jobs on top of them already having a good base mold, and the price is $35. Then there’s the new naruto figure they made which is a completely new sculpt with tons of accessories and great articulation and it costs less than this spider man which is already in an outdated mold and comes with less accessories than most spider man figures. If import companies are starting to sell things for cheaper than domestic for a much higher quality then there really is a big problem. I mean even jada toys who is very new to the game is starting to make some amazing moves. Their street fighter line has almost import quality articulation and paint and come with a good amount of accessories for $25 and they barely reuse any molds. They already confirmed that their mega man figure will also be only $20 with a ton of accessories as well. Marvel legends the way they are now doesn’t even begin to compare with the other figure companies when it comes to price and quality. I’m surprised people still buy their stuff despite it being incredibly mediocre at best.

  15. So, as a long time Power Rangers fan, i have no problem with having the same mold over and over with just a repaint. I mean, every single team of 5-7 rangers are just two separate molds (male and female) with the almost the exact same suit with only slight difference. My problem is the rise on the price and the specific "character tax" that hasbro seems to do.

  16. I stopped collecting for good this year and let me tell you it’s the best decision I’ve made in a long time! I recommend it. Live stress free and stop purchasing expensive yet low quality and recycled figures just to have them sit on a shelf to collect dust. Nothing this year is gonna be better than what we’ve already seen and I highly doubt it will be better next year as well. Good luck to you and your wallets friends! Over and out.

  17. Not agreeing with price hikes and i didn't order either figures but the original ps4 spidy figure came out as Gstop exclusive in 2018/2019 before the world chaos of 2020 so like every product and companies across the board hiked prices past inflation rise prices.

  18. This is why you might as well pay good cash for mafex or sh figuarts and get a good spiderman, instead of paying for 100 hasbro spidermen before they finally get it right.

  20. We all should go to Hasbro channel or site and give them a thank you very much from the bottom of our heart
and encourage them to raise their price higher on their action figure then we all should just sit back and watch how their business practice goes…..
