  1. You had the best description of what it feels like to say goodbye to someone you love when it’s their time.
If you can, you should do a reaction to a similar theme song from a band who usually doesn’t do those types of songs. The guitarist wrote it for his father who was diagnosed with terminal cancer. The first song is about finding out, the second is towards the end of it. They’re both beautiful.

    Dream theater- another day

Dream theater- take away my pain

  2. I lost my dad 2 years ago and this song still gets me in the feels. This was the first time that James' dad heard the song and it was done in one take. James and his dad were both serving British Military Officers. The line about two men just saying goodbye was a phrase they used when James was deployed overseas. At the end of the recording all the crew and James were in tears. James' dad being the traditional British with the stiff upper lip said Why is everyone crying? I'm not dead yet! When this was released a distant relation was tested and was found to be a match. He had stage 4 kidney cancer and got a transplant.

  4. My dad is alive but he was never there. It's been really tough sometimes. And this song evokes such emotions from me because I never had a relationship with him where I'd have to do this and it gives me such complex emotions about all of it. I feel like I already had to watch him go away but this song kills me every single time.

  5. James Blunt wanted this to be 100% real and authentic. His dad, who had only recently been diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease and was not expected to survive, although they did eventually find a donor and he made it. Both James and his dad are former officers in the British military. First time I heard this was 3 days after my Dad passed away and it broke me I lost my Dad 5 years ago this August after he fell and hit his head sadly he didn't survive it caused a bleed on his brain I sadly never had the chance to tell him I loved him and that hurts but i know he is at peace now.

  6. This song saved his dad’s life. After James & his sister found out they wasn’t able to donate a kidney to him. They wrote this song & performed it it helped them find a donor.
Goodbye my lover. Is great song.

  7. I was one of my dad’s primary caregivers for the last two years of his life, and this song says it all:
I’m not your son, you’re not my father, we’re just two grown men saying goodbye. I’m just so glad our last words were “I love you dad, see you in the morning.”, and “I love you too son.” He’s been gone since 1990, but this song always makes me remember that night.

  8. Shhhhh…..breathe. Just be still and feel. You can cry and feel emotion while being still. Its a truthful, honest, deep and heart felt song……but that shouldn't make us jittery or afraid. Emotions are a part of humanity, loss is too. None of us should be afraid to cry for something genuine. My dad always said as I grew up…."Be Tough Enough to Cry". Genuine heartache and sorrow leading to tears should never be feared. Its a part of the healing. The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

  9. The empathy in you is strong. It is written in your face and the subtle ripples that cross your face. Though sadness crosses your face and tears are near…. It makes you even more stunning.
