I did a one city challenge in Old World and it was amazing. Surrounded by barbs, tribes and super powers on all sides, I created one sprawling massive conglomeration of every building in the game and fully leveled troops on every tile. Ambition victory! It was epic. I recommend.
I love this game, but I feel overwhelmed and it feels too cluttered compaired to Civ6. I went from Old World and started playing civ6 this past xmas and found civ6 better overall but it's just my preference I think.
Haven't tried Old World in a few months, almost a year actually. It felt kinda bad to play back then, but the way the gameplay looked in the video and the new DLC has me excited.
Just bought the game based on this review. Had seen numerous reviews on the game and was on the fence, but this one pushed me over the edge. Excited to try it!
I would play this game, except for one thing: the elephants are way too big. That's just not even realistic. I'M JOKING! I think I'm going to try it! Lots of support in these comments, and I do love me some hexy games, with Civ6 being my current go-to.
I love Old World and keep coming back to it and can't wait to try the new DLC! I do still tear my hair out when I lose a treasured unit more easily than I think, but then I turn around and do the same thing to the AI. The revolving door spins faster for Old World units versus Civ units. The narrative events can't be beat!
I'd love to see two separate videos. One geared toward Civ players, and one that specifically digs into the improvements made over the last couple years. The second one could be a TON of work, but one shortcut would be to get an authorized interview with Soren Johnson or Dale…just ask them to tell the story. I would watch that with minimal editing. Literally just screen-capture a zoom call, it would be fantastic content.
Cavalry mechanic is very similar to a game called polytopia. Great 4x game for mobile (lacks ads!), a simplification of the format but very well designed and cute, low poly graphics. Fun game against ai or other players
I haven't played the game yet, but I would love to see more Old World content. I like games with emergent narrative, so in many ways Old World seems to be moving the genre in a direction that is more exciting to me than that of Civ 6. Personally, I would love to see an 'Overexplained' style video series specifically meant for Civ players who are interested in trying Old World.
Edit: Also I recommend that anyone who is interested in strategy game design check out the interview with Soren & Leyla Johnson on the podcast Three Moves Ahead. It gave me a lot of respect for some of the design ideas that went into this game.
It's like playing Civilization with realistic graphics. That cartoony animation style is one thing I hate about most recent Civilization games, reminds me of those mobile game clones that use the same assets in every game.
Would definitely like to see more game play. Looking at maybe picking it up as I keep seeing in the reviews that it is like a cross between Civ and a Paradox game (Stellaris, CK, etc.) and I like both.
Yes, this is a great game. I'm having some trouble figuring out how to counter AI unit spam. Not sure if you have to take them out early. More guides would be great.
The host found its new waffle house
I need to get in contact with the devs
I’m making a game which would actually make a perfect DLC for this game

I thing Old World desperately needs more events. There are too many the same events over and over.

May I ask what other games you'd consider as "good 4X games" ? I'm actually heavily invested in those and would love to know your suggestions
1:15 cmon man you got to give us the list now right? Can't just drop that without saying what they are!
I love this game. I would love to see more videos of Potato playing old world.
Still need to see the game in an a multiplayer setting since I always do 4x games with my brother

Playthrough when?
My understanding of Old World (I own it but can't play it) is that its mechanics are stupidly broken and unfun. Is this still the case?
3:10 haha map gun

Please stop promoting games. You're going to ruin me
Which are the 3 that are good?
(Been out of 4x for a while but have Civ & Humankind lurking unplayed)

Also is Apple Silicon native and just flies on a M1.
I look forward to Old World content on your channel!

Huh, getting Civ5 graphics vibes in this game

They nailed 4x formula literally. They deserve much more recognition
I’d love to see you play
So this game is basically Civ and Crusader Kings mashed into one.
Crunchy!
