The Bike Game of Our Dreams? – a First Look at RIDE 5

I’ve been eagerly awaiting this one! Ride 5 is the continuation of Milestone’s Forza-Style collect-em all Bike franchise. Much has been promised with upgraded graphics, career mode, race options, weather details and much much more! So how does it compare to the last edition? Is this the bike-lover’s dream?

  1. It looks great. I do have a question though.

In terms of physics and ride feel. Nothin up til now that I've tried, (all motogp games) topped Polyphony’s (Makers of Gran Tourismo) Tourist Trophy.

If you've ever played that, how does ride5 compare?

    Anyone else?

  2. I just don't get it… Why realistic physics "is not fun"? And why exactly the game should be dead serious about EVERYTHING if it has proper physics in it? People have fun IRL with real bikes, you know – you can't get any more realistic than that. Still fun somehow… Or not? Should it absolutely be a brain dead kind of entertainment to be "fun"?

  3. Car sims work because wheel pedals, your driving a car. Bikes however require not just handle bars and throttle but also body weight and positioning for it to be anywhere near close to the general feeling of it.
So unless you get a full set up where your able to lean the bike and move your body weight, its always just a bit of fun, where as sim driving cars can be immersive just with basic wheel and pedals as that is all there is to driving, which extremely easy compared to riding bikes.

  4. I recently got MotoGP '22 on sale — I could not believe the lack of grip and feedback on PS5, I tried getting used to it, but it seemed to ruin any fun because of how slow it looked too.

Ride 4 was my 1st bike game ever played, and must say its a smoker! GT7 has AI that takes you out often on higher difficulties, Ride 4 imo was enjoyable itr.

NOTE: why are they producing Ride 4 graphics on a Next_Gen only title?

  5. My oldest bike (1983 Suzuki GSX1100) is the only bike I have with a gear indicator. My newest is a Ninja and it also doesn't but has an LCD screen which I find strange. Without an indicator you spend a bit more time keeping an eye on the Tacho. That said big bore bikes will accelerate in any gear.
