marianne doesn’t want to actually watch connell have sex with someone else lmao. she was just saying that he was so beautiful she wanted to see him in the act of sex, whether or not she was able to be involved. she asks if he has a crush on anyone else bc she doesn’t really believe he likes her, and she is trying to save herself from getting hurt.

Those scenes are just fun, quick and pretty glamorized. But Normal People is just so naturalistic. It feels like you’re there with them in a way that makes you uncomfortable to even watch because it feels like you’re intruding it’s so real.

Marianne thinks such little of herself because of her home life and school life and is naive to the idea that Connell could really like her for her and Connell is naive to the reality that he is growing attached to Marianne because she is the only person he can really talk to and share his true self with. None of his friends really know him on a deeper level like she does. And same goes for Marianne really. Connell, when they are alone together, is the only person in her life at the moment that truly listens.
Daisy Edgar jones (Marianne) plays in one of my favorite movies where the crowdads sing she’s such a great actress they are so sweet in interviews too this show is a emotional rollercoaster just get ready for a crazy ride
She doesn't actually want to watch him have sex with someone else. She's insecure. What she meant by that was that it didn't need to be her. She couldn't let herself believe that he would want her in that way – despite wanting him in that way. I suppose some may find that weird – but for people who have experienced mental abuse (in her case by her family) – it's difficult to believe that anyone will want you. Sexually or otherwise.

Yeah i agree that the sex scenes in this show are so much more intense just because it's sooo real so it makes you uncomfortable lmaooo. There are time jumps so I can't wait for the next episodes! And yeah she wasn't dead serious that she wanted to watch him have sex, she was wanted him so bad after the game that she wanted to see him having sex with her orrr anyone.
I know we only saw an edited version of the sex, but that first time was probably the most intense intimacy scene I've seen in a show or movie, for that matter. Especially if you add on him checking in on how she feels and her boundaries, it was beautiful. As for her wanting to see him have sex, I got the impression it was less about seeing him having sex with someone else and more just seeing him have sex, since she finds him visually attractive. With her insecurities, I can also see why she wouldn't want to watch herself do it. I guess what I'm trying to get at is that I'm sure there's more depth to it than just saying she might be a cuck and stopping the conversation there.
On a side note, I wish Connell would stop being such a coward and defend her when in public. His friends are all assholes.
