From 1965 to 1973, the United States waged a grueling war against the Communist forces of North Vietnam. The conflict was a brutal guerrilla war where young American soldiers were sent far from home to fight an enemy that fought unlike anything the US military had seen before.
The Vietnam War remains controversial to this day. Some argue it was a justified defense of South Vietnam against Northern Communist aggression, while others argue it was an unjustified war of US imperialism driven by Cold War anti-communist hysteria. What all can agree upon is that the war resulted in the deaths of millions of people, a large portion of them civilians killed by the United States.
By 1968, the Vietnam War was going badly for the Americans. The Tet Offensive launched by the North in January 1968 had strained America’s military might and shattered US morale at home and abroad. Desperate to reclaim the initiative, the US launched a series of counter-offensives to push back the Communist enemy.
One target of this counter-offensive was Quang Ngai province, specifically the village of Son My. Son My was made up of several smaller hamlets including My Lai. For the sake of simplicity, we’ll stick to the more famous name for the whole village. My Lai, nicknamed Pinkville by the Americans because of its Communist sympathies, was believed to be a hotspot for Viet Cong (VC). US Intelligence claimed that the VC was active in the area and the village was essentially a Communist outpost.
In March 1968, Task Force Barker was assembled to deal with My Lai. The Task Force was made up of soldiers drawn from two companies: Company C, 1st Battalion, 20th Infantry Regiment and Company B, 3rd Infantry Regiment, 11th Brigade, 23rd Infantry Division. For simplicity’s sake, we will call them B Company and C Company. There was also an A Company but their role in events was relatively minimal.

All wars are Banker's Wars
As a Vietnam Vet.Many Americans dont know, that in that War.Which Jognson tried to do a PUTIN TRICK..BY CALLING IT……THE VIETNAM CONFLICT//////WELL THAT WAS A JOKE..But what Americans didnt know was,,,,we were at war with china,,,RUSSIA…AND NEIGHBORING COUNTRIES….SO WE WERE IN DEEP///SINCE THE USA DECIDED TO TAKE ON THE THREE BROTHERS OF COMMUNISM//WE COULD NOT USE NATO TO BRING IN OUR OWN COALITION///HO CHI SAID…IF IT LASTED ANOTHER 30 DAYS THEN NAM WOULD HAVE COLLAPSED/
… so where's the astrosities from the VC's ones… especially in the Tet's offensive of 1968 on the Hue's citizens… you can repost as many times as you want… but it won't be fair nor balance ⚖️ when you just don't have any things on the other side… If you don't have any decency nor respectfully to the deads to withdraw this post then we shall demand the deletion order from YouTube because this is an insulting to history and poisonous to the youth's Americans and Worldwide audiences… ‼️
The only thing that changes are the uniforms, weapons, and technology of its time, going back to before the Old Testament. One would think we would have evolved more by now. The war atrocities continue in the world as I type this comment. Horrible stuff not limited to any country or time…
But the Heads of the war machines will continue to coldly profit.
And they are acting like world police.
MORE PEOPLE WERE KILLED IN 4 YEARS OF THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR THAN THE ENTIRE VIETNAM WAR. GIVE THAT THOUGHT OR TWO
What happen in My Lai repeated in Iraq.. us soldier dont have any moral. In Fallujah they shot so many innocent civillian..
Too all the young Americans watching this who just wanna know a little more truth I Salute 🫡
The American army is disgusting. Period.
I learned that everything about this watching RAMBO FIRST BLOOD
have USA ever stopped meddling in other countries? NOT…they still doing the same until now …because these are the testing ground for their weapons…for them it is business as usual…
Just yet another leftist view of history filled with inaccuracies and innuendos ! Hah Hum !
They wanted to push back the "enemy". That's not your land, Americans you the enemy. The audacity of these cruel ba….. rds.
why is there (3:48) a picture of a german soldier ?
Is this the land of the free we hear about. Not nice.
Lying nonsense !
How low will democrats go to denigrate our troops..Vietnam Vet. !
My Lai was not in any way emblematic of our efforts in Vietnam.
And btw, Tet ‘68 was a catastrophic defeat for the VC.
We must question what kind of people are granted licenses to kill on frontlines. Military cannot evade responsibility from war crimes. Politicians must know what they are doing before sending a killing squad to any region.
I am offended as a Vietnam Vet Marine. Rape was a prison sentence. 75% were Teenagers and they were well trained fighting men, rape was not in their DNA, WE were at war, Vietcong supply villages were destroyed, we had to destroy their supply lines. Unfortunately in all wars civilians suffer.
American Military is Nazi
"Putin is a killer!"
"Well there's a lot of killers, you think USA is so innocent?"
If you look at a larger context, there ought to be a different perspective, the one that will show a different kind of horror, namely the internal genocide brought forth from North VN by the VCs (Vietnamese Communists) who destroyed, annihilated and decimated the land, the people and their culture and history in the South where once a country called South Vietnam existed. All that happened long before AND after the American intervention (so don't let that "intervention" fool you.) Just ask any VNmese boat people , you can find them living in any of your local "Little Saigon" all around the world!
I do believe that the Vietnam war was fought for a good purpose, started out as a consenting war between two groups of people who wanted to fight for their version of "right" , but then it spiraled out of control.. any war lasting more than about 10 years is probably going to turn out that way like WW1 or the Forever war on Terror with only small positive impacts, if not none
If it is true that the distinguishing feature of the My Lai massacre is that it became public knowledge, in distinction to the many other war crimes which have been successfully covered up by the US Army and Government, is it any wonder that allies are prepared to spy on the US? They know that the US cannot be trusted. The US continues to conceal its shameful nefarious activities which is why Wikileaks, Julian Assange and anyone seeking to expose the many crimes of the US, should be regarded with respect by the wider world, while the US maintains its long tradition of claiming virtuous motives and actions, all the while hiding the truth. US support for the destruction of the infrastructure of Gaza, clearly intended to precipitate an outbreak of cholera and dysentery in due course and which will kill many more people than the current murderous campaign will achieve through bullets and bombs, is a classic example of their immoral priorities.
America is just as evil as the rest. Disgusting!
Yes you want to survive but killing innocent women and children makes you a Sucker in my book if these kids and women tried to kill me then yes it’s fair game but if there no threat then get out my face and watch your back
Although I avoided the draft in 1968 by joining the Navy…I was 1A right out of high school and there was no lottery yet. Even the Marines were drafting. One of my buddies joined the Marines and was deployed right out boot camp. He saw alot of combat, but the only detail he ever talked about was about using grenade launchers to fire on anyone they saw running in the fields…more for sport. He was disgusted by it.
Israelis are doing worse en masse with US arms and tax payer’s money. Unlike some American soldiers, there are none who have any sense of humanity. Whereas My Lai was unwitnessed, but IDF does it on camera and thumbs its nose at the world, who it considers sub human Goyim.
Military Industrial Complex: Merchant of war
Because Christian Americans don’t see people who don’t look like them as human… nothing has changed… happened in my wars.
I learned one thing from this channel that whoever is in power is never innocent
This is so barbaric. Salute to the helicopter crew for their bravery and humanity.
