  1. But some shows are not alternative history, they just scratch the surface. The Man in High castle and for All Mankind are alternative history in full, with complex political and social rewrite of history. FAM even has regular alternative news, like Pope is killed, and Lennon survive assassination attempt…

  2. I'm surprised that I've only seen 4 out of the 10 of these. I've heard of some and had no idea about the others. Alternate History is often either hit or miss, with more misses than hits.

Some other Alternate History shows I've seen:
•Noughts + Crosses – set in a world where Europe is colonized by empires from Africa. It takes place in Albion (Great Britain), which is a self-governing colony of the Aprican Empire in West/Central Africa under a South Africa-esque apartheid system.
•Blackadder-particularly the first series, in which the House of York won the Battle of Bosworth Field and a King Richard IV briefly ruled England. The series then focuses on his second son, Prince Edmund the Black Adder, Duke of Edinburgh.

  3. " Black Mirror " should be considered ! I haven't been able to watch this series, but I've heard it combines several genres from the Outer Limits and the Twilight Zone 😳 🤔! Speaking of that old show, take a look, viewing " Back There 😳" A scientist back in 1864-1865 tries to prevent the fateful of President Lincoln's assassination by John W Booth!

  4. Allthough I absolutely loved Fringe, the point where it started dabbling in alternate timelines, is precisely where it got lost in itself and became a far-lesser series. I would not have given it a #1 spot, especially in this category, which is where it fell apart. (it performed far better as a quirky X-files knock-off in it's earlier seasons)

#1 Man in the High Castle, which vastly expanded on themes from the novel (which is a 2-3 hour read extended to a 4 season series) and is sumptuous in execution.
#2 SS-GB. A British series with similar themes to High Castle, taking place in post WWII Nazi occupied England where Churchill has been executed. Was quite shocked not to find it in your list as it fits the theme far more than many that you included. (Myopic American-only content ?)
#3 Ronald D Moore's brilliant For all Mankind.
Counterpart, a sadly overlooked series that was robbed of an opportunity for a conclusion. But it is a tale of parallel rather than alternate timelines.

I have tried to watch 11.22.63 several times, but just can't get passed the first episode. Maybe I'll try again this coming weekend. (although it feels like King milking a Roddenberry story pitch.)
