Since the Abridged series doesn't actually explain it, the reason Goku asked the dragon not to bring him back to Earth is that he is training to control the Super Saiyan transformation. It may not have looked like it (especially in this parody), but the transformation is a berserker one, fueled by rage. Goku was fighting very hard to not just kill everything in sight, which is why he snapped at Gohan when he first transformed. So he wants to make sure he can control it and not have to worry about hurting his friends and family while he's safely far away from them.
The scenes of Bulma off by herself but in danger still, basically the whole planet was falling apart from the battle even before Freiza blasts the planet core and she was barely making it through. Also, Namekians reproduce by spitting out an egg.
Agh it warms my heart that you were happy to see Vegeta ressurected. This is about the point when we all started to feel that way
The abridged won’t explain it but goku found a ginyu force ship and used it at the last second to escape.

Yeah the original fight was Infamous because freezer says the planet will explode in 5 minutes, and then it takes like 10 episodes or some ridiculous number.
There was an entire episode where Goku and Frieza just stood and look at each other, while flashbacks of the last 2 episodes played in Goku's head.
But thankfully they shortened it down to 3 episodes when the redid the entire series for DBZ Kai

Explaination about the wish: It was Mr. Popo, on Earth, who wished for everyone who had been killed by Freeza and his minions to be revived, and that's why Krillin wasn't revived. Earth's dragon, Shenlong, cannot revive the same person more than one time, no matter the wording or the nature of the wish, and Kuririn had already been revived once before during the events of Dragon Ball, having been killed by the Demon Clansman called Tambourine at the start of the Piccolo Daimao arc and then revived at the end of the arc. All classic Dragonball stuff.

And half of it was just all kinds of filler fighting and angry staredowns (plus one particularly egregious episode that's basically just Frieza having flashbacks of the same damn battle 🤐), as the anime was dangerously close to catching up with the manga, so they had to really drag it out to stall for time. That's also why Namek/Frieza in the anime is followed by the Garlic Junior arc, which isn't in the manga at all.
Vegeta and the gang vs Frieza was also way longer than Abridged makes it seem (Piccolo taking on 2nd form is like half an hour), and IIRC the whole shebang totals out at 30 episodes. Now DBZ Kai trimmed out much of the filler, but even there it's still pretty long! Abridged is just super trimmed down, it always is. So much shit gets cut out. 😆
Oh yeah, and the most ridiculous part? Two of those original four hours were them fighting after Frieza said Namek would blow up in five minutes (which is why he was hesitating here, and why even Goku ends up pointing it out). Five Minutes is probably the most renowned Dragon Ball meme.
It’s odd how Goku is so powerful that he can basically tell the dragon he doesn’t want to return. Anyway, SEASON 3 INCOMING!

Your hopes that Goku would stop being a himbo were doomed from the start. He may act a little smarter, but he never fully recovers from being dropped on his head, from the top of a cliff, as a baby.
My theory is: Goku's body expands visibly when he goes Super Saiyan. This may include some of his organs, such as his lungs. If so, maybe his brain is getting more oxygen, and it slowly undoes some of the brain damage. Not a lot, but enough that he's slightly less of a thundering dumbass.
Also: count the slow motion slaps. He slaps Frieza exactly 20 times. Remember in episode 29 when Goku suggested playing 20 Questions? Fun little joke that may or may not have been intentional.

Kind of surprised you never reacted to any of the DBZA Movies. One that's pretty important for story reasons is "History of Trunks." Highly recommend watching it at some point after Episode 38. There will straight-up be scenes and plot points you don't understand if you don't watch it. The rest are just fun extras.
