  1. I wonder if walt disney was born in the soviet union could he could have built disneyland or if its something that could have been only been built in america yes it was replicated in japan and europe but could the first one only be built here. Some use disney as an example of american exceptionalism and main street usa sort of reflects that.

  2. Impressive and informative video on a little known topic especially when it come to myself. Though while not implausible I cannot see many kids pestering their parents to go Grutas Park. But what do I know. 😀

  3. Brother, the first part of your explanation of communism was fine. But they end really had a lot of bias 😅 it was really not all negative.

From how you bring all it also really comes over as American propaganda.

As i said earlier, it was definitely not all bad and actually their were many good things.
Oppression was definitely a thing but to be honest.. in some cases not really more than now a days. In the puppet states it was a different situation of course.
A lot of terrible choices were made where a lot of minorities suffered from. Therefore the reenactment is true.

  4. U.S.S.R will look like kittens compared to there replacements. Don't believe me? Ukraine rates at the top of most corrupt countries according to the international financial institutions that study this. To be clear I'm well aware that Putin is a piece of crap too. Things are rarely what is reported on network news.

  5. So what you're saying is these are all better than Epcot? Enjoyed this and the Marine Corp used to do something in a similar idea in regards to the first park you covered. When I was a teacher we went out to San Diego as the Marines sponsored a group of teachers to spend a week like the Marines. Granted, it was in no way close to what recruits (what they're called before they achieve the title of Marine) were going through but on the bus ride over they had a sergeant yelling at us, had several others marching us out of the bus, yelling at us, basically taking us through what recruits would have to experience when they first arrive. I can tell you it's very intense when they're all just screaming at you but it was a great experience. Enjoyed watching this, I love seeing what other countries provide.

  6. i find the first experience you covered really interesting- i think roleplay style experiences are really underrated and it does seem like a good method of education that's a lot more memorable than listening to a lecture in class

  7. "How would you like to get whipped by a former KGB agent?" Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure somebody's into it! 😅In all honesty, this was a really fascinating video. I never thought much about Soviet theme parks.

  8. There's apparently a wide variety of these LARP experiences in Europe, that aren't "fun" but are deeply immersive and emotional. I read a fascinating article about one that takes place at a gay conversion therapy camp, and the participants' joy in being able to write and embody their own stories of hope and perseverance within that terrible environment.

  9. This entire time, I'm just imagining a KGB agent ushering a group of starving people onto a teacup ride, but the teacups are lenins head and the people are like

"can we have food comrade? We are starving and this ride will make us nauseous. "

And the agent is waving a pistol around and yelling, "Get on the ride, be happy, now! you'll get your potato after the propaganda filming!

  10. I love how extreme the propoganda is, like they really did just put Lenin and Trotsky next to Stalin and insinuate that their political ideas and practices were the same. We can't have anyone knowing that there's like a whole lot of history being blurred together, the working class might actually read Lenin and get ideas again.

  11. Before watching this, I was chatting with someone who said they had a deep desire to go to a fake jail where the guards and fellow inmates were all corrupt and wanted to harm them, so there’s an audience for any roleplaying experiencing lol.

These seem to involve a lot of performers who may or may not be getting off on being in a position of power over the guests, and I’m just not masochistic enough for that lol. And as far as education, I don’t need to intentionally burn myself to know I should avoid fire lol

  12. One might be led to think that Lithuania has little love lost for the good ol' USSR… Thanks for an interesting look at a little-known subject! (Addendum: Yes, that's a way-cool scale model of Moscow… and when you covered Patriot Park, there was a little voice in the back of my head saying, "Yep, saw one of those burned out in Ukraine… yeah, saw one of those blow up in Ukraine… yah, saw one of those crashed in Ukraine…")

  13. I have always, ALWAYS mourned the destruction of the statuary of fallen regimes…whether they be Russian, German or the remnants of the Civil War, here in the U.S. Do I support any of the politics that produced those iconic artworks? Hell, no! But to see them being, crushed, bombed, dented and destroyed breaks my artistic heart. Thanks, Lithuanian mushroom dude, for your bold move to save and display such pieces.

  14. As an Anarchist I hate the Statist government controlled anything they should have let the soviets mage things. The USSR was just as exploited as capitalism is today. Yes, it brut us Disney but with how much money stoved exploring its creative and start members and most damningly in the Entertainment industry severe lack of fresh creativity and no willingness to take risks. And that's just Disney one company in the web greed of thousands just as bad that they are killing the planet we all live on.
They are just doing now what Disney did and are appropriation the Soviet as a brand of ther own. They are very good capitalists in that sense. Thow they sound fun I have to admit.
If we on the left actually want to build a better more just society we need new forms of socialism that are radically democratic on every level anti hyracical and anti-capitalist.
