The Terrifying Sinking of SS Admiral Nakhimov

In August 1986 the Soviet Union’s merchant fleet was dealt a cruel blow when the darling of the Black Sea cruise ship lineup, SS Admiral Nakhimov, was sunk by an unlikely collision. The ship had a bizarre and storied career having survived a sinking in 1945 while serving as a German hospital ship but tragically history would show that she had merely delayed the inevitable. In today’s video we will revisit the Admiral Nakhimov’s story and bear witness to the horrifying final minutes of this once proud ship.

  2. can you do a video for M/S Estonia!? + a realtime sinking video

its been 30 years now and after the recent expeditions recovering the ramp and finding more info that has debunked the conspiracy theories out there i think its time for a new modern sinking animation such as this ❤

  3. Given all of the communications back and forth between the shore, liner and freighter, I'm surprised the captain of the freighter wasn't given a more severe punishment. He, and he alone, was surely the primary culprit here. Having agreed to give way, ignoring multiple warnings by his own crew, then provide false assurances to the liner over the radio? Finally, taking 44 minutes to announce the sinking over the radio? How much more guilty can you be?

  4. When I was a very little kid, I actually sailed on the original Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. My mum was English (married to an American), and we went back to England a few times on the Cunarders prior to the dominance of air travel. It was magic (even for a small child), and I have been passionately interested in the old lines ever since. Thanks, Mr. Brady.
