In August 1986 the Soviet Union’s merchant fleet was dealt a cruel blow when the darling of the Black Sea cruise ship lineup, SS Admiral Nakhimov, was sunk by an unlikely collision. The ship had a bizarre and storied career having survived a sinking in 1945 while serving as a German hospital ship but tragically history would show that she had merely delayed the inevitable. In today’s video we will revisit the Admiral Nakhimov’s story and bear witness to the horrifying final minutes of this once proud ship.

Hi friends! I think this is the first time I've opened a video with synthwave… anyway in case any of you want to hear the full track, here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYyTKaO9A7g
Sparkling lights on the surface of the OCEAN?)))it was Balck SEA)
Not me jamming to the killer synth music at the begging of a video about a horrific tragedy
Nice video Mike👍
Russian lookout: “sir, ship heading right for us!”
Russian captain: “Is it a Japanese torpedo boat?”
Russian admiral: – throws binoculars overboard
Watching this on a cruise ship gives me the chills
The hubris of those in charge has gotten many unnecessarily killed and injured over the years. At least those responsible for this tragic were held accountable for their actions.
Is there the possibility to make a 30-40 min video abt the Willhelm Gustlov disaster?
I remenber well this Ship in 86 during a call with the Cruise ship Mermoz I was an Officer . At this time I was wondering she was a very old ship , coming from another time ! But even Odessa seems to be in 40's 50's , peoples on the beach , little boats , etc….!!!!
can you do a video for M/S Estonia!? + a realtime sinking video
its been 30 years now and after the recent expeditions recovering the ramp and finding more info that has debunked the conspiracy theories out there i think its time for a new modern sinking animation such as this ❤
Your attention to historical issues and perspectives is so detailed. And your visual recreation of the events is art of the first class. Much thanks for your work.
Can you make a video on the ship HMS Patroclus? She was built in 1923 and sunk on November 4th, 1940, by German uboat U-99, 56 people died, and 263 people survived.
Nicely put together 👌
WTF is up with the rhe name? it's a cruise ship not a warship
Your production work is spectacular– especially the music choices and transitions are *smooth*. A little loud in places, but wow, where did you find all those pieces?
What did they expect Russia isn't known for caring for thisr civilians
Sounds like two very incomplete Captain's and harbor Masters
Crazy that for the7 minutes that it was sinking the other ship just watched instead of launching boat's to rescue passengers
Listen to cosmic by red velvet bitches
Given all of the communications back and forth between the shore, liner and freighter, I'm surprised the captain of the freighter wasn't given a more severe punishment. He, and he alone, was surely the primary culprit here. Having agreed to give way, ignoring multiple warnings by his own crew, then provide false assurances to the liner over the radio? Finally, taking 44 minutes to announce the sinking over the radio? How much more guilty can you be?
When I was a very little kid, I actually sailed on the original Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth. My mum was English (married to an American), and we went back to England a few times on the Cunarders prior to the dominance of air travel. It was magic (even for a small child), and I have been passionately interested in the old lines ever since. Thanks, Mr. Brady.
The factory that rebuilt it was probably in Ukraine.
I remember this event. I heard it broadcast on the radio in NYC. I saw your facinating program here and those memories came back. Thank you.
Why does the 7 minutes of terror take 32 minutes?
Never heard of this disaster so I couldn't believe it when I heard 1986. That ship would look modern in the 1930s.
So to simplify this is Russias Empress of Ireland-
Oh my god the children
0:26 my brain must be broken because I swear that cruise ship looks like a clown
