The Strongest Tornado I've EVER Seen – March 31, 2023 Tornado Outbreak

A well anticipated tornado outbreak occurred on March 31, 2023. I saw two huge tornadoes in southeastern Iowa, from Hedrick to Keota. Both tornadoes were capable of catastrophic damage but did not kill anyone.

These tornadoes were part of the third largest tornado outbreak on record.

  1. I remember as a kid waking up and opening the door and a classic V shaped tornado was coming right at me! It was so big it looked like a big boiling cloud on the ground!

5yr old me was thinking "Geez, I just want to play some Donkey Kong before school!

  2. The one word I'd choose to describe the entirety of this would be "stark". Even "starkest" would work ๐Ÿ™‚ Around 5-6 minutes it's amazing, the falloff of wind energy at such a small distance from the mass……. those power lines are barely moving, and the treeline appears pretty still. Really appreciate the quality/resolution.

  4. I just could not comprehend being that close to something that massive ๐Ÿ˜ฒ๐Ÿ˜ฒ The noise would be deafening. I am watching this from Australia and am glad to say that we dont get tornadoes here. Please take care out there, and thanks for the amazing video ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

  5. What gets me about storm chasers, they go out to get the film of the tornado and the adrenaline pump from it, while they could be actually warning people when they see the trick of the tornado where it's going

  6. Glad nobody got hurt. I've lived in central Oklahoma all my life and the worst tornado I've seen was the EF5 that came through in 2013. I was out at my parents and they live in between Stroud and Cushing, one of the many known tornado towns. The tunnel went right over us but didn't touch ground until it got closer to 33 by Drumright. Growin up around 'em, I like to watch. Thanks for sharin this.

  7. Wowza! This reminded me of 4/21/1967, when the South and East sides of Chicago and suburbs were hit with 7 F-5's, known as the Oak Lawn Tornado. My best friend was killed in the Oak Lawn roller rink with his skating partner. Too many other deaths and injuries as well. Turning 71 this April and still am freaked out with Illinois storms. Bless you and stay safe.
