The Sick Teen Who Live-Streamed Her Sister's Death & Didn't Care

The Sick Teen Who Live-Streamed Her Sister’s Death & Didn’t Care

This is 18-year-old Obdulia Sanchez during her first preliminary hearing in court by video. She appears completely emotionless as the judge reads out the charges against her.

Judge: Do you understand the charges?
Obdulia: A little bit
Judge: Do you have the funds to hire your own attorney?
Obdulia: No, I don’t”
Judge: I’m gonna, I’m going to appoint a public defender ….”.

This was only a few days after an incident that shook the entire nation and blew up the internet. But Obdulia didn’t seem to care at all—even when it was her actions that had caused her own sister’s death.

  1. As someone who understands what PTSD, CPTSD, and Childhood PTSD does to a person I feel sorry for this girl. She has all three and her perceptions and behaviors are not those of a normal person so don't be quick to crucify her. None of you understand the horrific things she went through as a child and a teenager. This shapes who you are and without real therapy (not psychiatry) her chances of regulating her emotions are next to nothing. Not to mention that her understanding of right and wrong will forever be distorted with the borders of each fading away into the other leaving her unable to discern which one's which and where one begins or ends. I also feel sorry for her sister who really didn't deserve any of this and had her future ahead of her. Those last moments and the minutes leading up to the incident must've been terrifying to her. She was clearly scared and pleading with her sister to stop. Btw I think I saw the original uncensored video years ago.

  2. Tbh I think parents bear moral responsibility—assaulted, kidnapped, tortured, trafficked—then stuck in the broken Cali foster care system. Where were her parents, ffs???

  3. Any proof of the excuses she made about being trafficked etc at the age of 11? Trafficked people very rarely returned. Without police reports, massive media reports of what would have been nothing short of a miracle I find her claims impossible to believe. I call BS. People DO have the right to judge her because she chose to drink and drive which murdered her sister. Many people have horrific childhoods but don't go around killing people. Loser.

  4. Thts a tough one its like she is detached from reality after the crash and just drops back into relality now and again. I think the father is right she needs help. Its also a symptom of modern life that every event in someone's life is up loaded to social media, no mater what it is.

  5. It does not matter what her sister and parents said. Her parents' daughter is responsible on getting her sister killed in a car accident. She did her sister did not care about her sister being dead. She deserves the death penalty. So sad.

  6. Why did the parents not get her the right help after all the abuse and addiction she been through? It’s very odd that the parents allowed her to drive given that she has a substance abuse issues. Even more odd that they trusted her to drive with her younger sister and her girlfriend. Her parents failed their kids. And the girl needs to be punished for her recklessness that broke her family. In jail.

  7. How f*up and sick a person's mind can be ? She said that she made that video because she has 5000 followers in her insta account and many people will donate money to her sister's funeral , I mean who on earth would clicked their mind so fast and making a video of your dead sister just to get money for funeral that means she already planned to kill her own sister and her sister's gf , what a sick evil woman.

  8. bipolar disease is tough and the prison system is a joke and usually doesn't help many people. it's true social media wrecks people's lives these days. i only have Instagram now and barely use it. i think if she weren't bipolar she would have made better instant decisions. going to jail is scary.. ive been 8 times.. never prison and these were only misdemeanors. I'm in Florida tho and California has a much harsher system. i think they need to do something somehow to change how people instantly flee from the police. this always makes matters much worse. part of me feels intelligence plays a part.. but she is also very young.. I've never fled from the cops but did plenty of stupid crap one could say was just as dumb. lastly, if anyone spends more than 5 yrs in prison this changes the person in a not so great way typically. i wish her all the best.. small time criminals need to realize the system is based on profit, once we realize this then we decide not to give the states what they want.. our lives !!

  9. when she said she's sorry she wasn't. she doesn't have the ability to feel remorse or to understand the reason and importance of her initial punishment. it doesn't register in her mind like it would for a normal person. it's just another inconvenience for her. she knows when she is supposed to display emotions and exhibit proper reactions to certain things but she'll never be able to be human. mental disorders are no joke and many with them are functioning or even hyper functioning (especially many CEOs and the like) so most of them aren't monsters because they still have a logical moral compass they follow but others like criminals who have these disorders.. those are the scary ones.

  10. Ok, this girl needs care and rehabilitation. Her brain is not functioning properly because of drugs and trauma. This behavior is very obviously not her nature, I hope she has some peace and healing.

  11. She does need help! She needs psychological help! She’s clearly suicidal….or she wouldn’t have went on a damn police chase with a loaded gun a month out of prison!!! She was probably hoping to crash and die or that they’d shoot her!! She is probably feeling so much hatred and remorse for killing her own baby sister and then getting so much hate from the world that she would rather die….not realizing the pain she’s causing her dad…her family really! I know first hand he this feels. When someone close to you is a victim of sexual abuse and then becomes an addict they sink into themselves and self destruct ….really don’t notice the pain they cause those around them because they’re numbing themselves from it all with all the drugs and substances they’re putting into their body! They become so dependent on the drugs that’s all they care about…it’s hard! They either come out of it and get well or they end up dying and you’re left with a gaping hole in ur heart

  12. I remember seeing the video when this first happened.. her face was completely punched in her head. It’s so crazy to think she didn’t shed a single tear after seeing her own little sister like that. I cried & cried I had never been so scared of a car accident until I saw how badly and unrecognizable her sister was.
