If you’re interested in health, you’ve heard the term inflammation quite a bit. But did you know there are different kinds of inflammation? Some of them are more alarming than others. Acute inflammation happens when you cut your finger and it gets red and a little swollen. This is helpful inflammation and usually resolves in about a week. But the inflammation that naturally happens as we age, called sterile-inflammation, sets us up for less resiliency against things like autoimmunity, cancer, and other forms of chronic disease.

Today, I’m excited to dive deep into the topic of inflammation and its role in aging with Dr. David Furman. Dr. David Furman is Associate Professor and Director of the Bioinformatics Core at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, as well as the Director of the Stanford 1000 Immunomes Project. He obtained his doctoral degree in immunology from the School of Medicine, University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, for his work on cancer immune-surveillance. During his postdoctoral training at the Stanford School of Medicine, Dr. Furman focused on the application of advanced analytics to study the aging of the immune system in humans.

  1. The work of Hulda Clark should be reviewed and factored in. She was identifying toxins and their impact on the body through spectroscopy back in the 80s and 90s. She cured many people of disease, cancer and HIV by removing inflammatory toxins and the use of clean foods, body products and household cleaners as well as low voltage electrical current. Would be great to marry her research with the advanced technologies of today.

  2. Iron overload causes inflammation. See the Root Cause Protocol. The human body can’t remove excess iron without copper and bioavailable Vit A. (Beef liver, raw milk, fish liver oil, pasture fed eggs) Our ancestors had good Vit A and copper intake. Us? Not so much.

    We’re malnourished.

    Iron in “enriched” wheat flour is TOXIC SHIT. It makes us fat, inflamed and die early. ONLY copper can mobilize it. ONLY vitamin A makes copper transporters that help restore balance.

  3. Sure seems like Health Insurance Companies and Medicare would be receptive to a WFPB vegan message.
    It would save them money on health care costs. This could off set the lobbying by food manufacturers.
    Maybe educating health Insurance Companies and Medicare administrators should be a priority.
    Health Insurance companies might even push doctors to take nutrition more seriously by paying for nutrition counseling of patients.

  4. You are what you eat. Your diet impacts your health.
    Lower stress, reduce obesity and more exercise are key to a healthy life.
    Obesity in children and adults is rising across the world.
    Fast food and sugary drinks are contributing to the problem of poor health and obesity.
    Eat a healthy plant based diet and exercise regularly.
    Reduce or ELIMINATE cows milk, eggs, cheese and meat. Eat more salad greens, beans, fruit and vegetables. Eliminate fast food, snacks like cookies, cakes, chips, and sugary drinks and juices.
    Every adult and child should own a bicycle and ride it regularly.
    Regular exercise will help you sleep better. Yoga is a great stress reducer.
    Obesity is all too common today. Get off the couch. Get off the phone, ipad or video game.
    A variety of stretching and other exercises help with increased mobility.
    Ride to work, ride to school, ride for fun.
    Every city should be a bicycle city.
    Speak up for bicycles in your community

  8. You can cool with olive oils as long as you use low to medium heat, not high heats. Dr Steven Grundy talks about studies using olive oil cook with on low to medium heat and it does not damage the olive oil until you use high heat.
