A couple year back my wifeβs friend lost her brother in a similar incident at mount baker also. The snow up there gets so stacked. Tree wells are no joke also
My biggest fear skiing. It looks like it happens so fast, so unexpectedly, and to experienced people. My father lost a colleague like this. Head first into a tree well and they didn't find him until the spring.
My worst nightmare. I was into winter mountaineering in my 20βs and 30βs and avalanches were a real danger for us. Especially in the areas we used to go because it was only 2-4 of us and nobody else for many miles.
This is literally in my back yard and as a SAR member in the county this took place, Iβm glad to see people helping each other in this way. The parties involved in this situation have been reunited since the filing of this video Iβm told.
I used to live 15 minutes from my baker and hiked up the mountain all the time as a kid. Some guy went missing up there years ago and they never found him. Beautiful area tho, especially down in the valley
Iβve seen the full video, I canβt believe the guy actually noticed him. That was one fantastic save.
Damn.

This gave me flash backs to avalanche survival training in Jackson Hole. Really cool stuff.
I get the pleasure of seeing Mt Baker every day. Glad to see this.
Cool and calm π

Awesome! It's great seeing something positive nowadays.
There's no way to describe a fellow human placing their hand on you, to reassure you that they're there to help other than angelic. "I got you"
Caught myself sucking wind just watching lol
Holy cow π
Way to go. Thank god you were there,ππ
That would suuuuuck!
Iβve heard of those before, do they call them a tree fell? Or something? Iβve never seen someone rescued from one before..ππ¨
