New World (amazons new MMORPG) exploded onto the gaming scene in style… with lengthy queue times, and an absolutely massive population. In the aftermath, as flaws come to light, it is becoming clearer and clearer that this game has an identity crisis.

Is it a PvE title? fun and laid back? or is it a PvP title, with hardcore exploits and an underlying toxic culture. For some people, the game will be worth buying… but for others, its a complete disaster, unworthy of your time.

Here is my official New World Review, the longest video I have ever posted to the channel.

  1. Well not going to disagree with your points completely, but I will say this about the missing crafting Items, I think it's description is bugged or wrong. Fae Iron is mined after you defeat stone bears not by Iron Veins like it says, same with some of the wood and the wolves you fight with the angry earth mobs. You'd need level 100 mining and woodcutting to get said mats. So I thought the same thing playing in the Preview event as well as open and closed beta because I didn't know where to find it and I mined a lot of iron veins. But around level 35 is when you learn about this stuff and do quests that has you hunt and gather from those mobs. So if you go east, or the right side of the map, before going in the swamp you'll see bears with stone on them. You mine those bears after you kill them and there's a chance you will get Fae Iron, after mining over 50 iron veins I didn't get one Fae Iron, my friend killed a bear in an area I didn't want to go to and got loads of Fae Iron. Chances are there's a mob someone hasn't tried to mine, cut or carve that has the missing mats or hasn't said anything for those who found it making it a very rare mat because people are dicks. But I agree, the elitist shit needs to go. I play on Yggdrasil and there's a company that over taxed a town as well as being toxic, so the owner and most members got mass reported and banned for being an elitist pieces of trash. If they fix the bad parts of the game and have it where people can't do as they're doing then the game would be a lot better, no argument there. Here's hoping they fix up the game instead of adding more bullshit, I would take revamped systems and balances over new content, for now. Make the game better before adding more and having to balance that out as well.

I'm surprised you gave the PVE a 7/10, most say it's the weakest part about the game. Granted I really enjoy it, and instead of having 50 abilities that do the same thing with bigger numbers I love the fact you have to think on how you want and need to use your abilities for instead of spam them like some people claim is all you do. Granted that's what you do with the magic abilities, but that also depends on how you use them. The combat is more deep then they think, and you can even lay down to avoid some attacks and roll out of the way to avoid attacks that are slam downed. There's a lot of enemies you can do that with such as the grave mobs with their shovel swings. But a good honest review, not just a review that is ether praising the game ignoring all it's flaws or a review that is bashing the game for every little thing because it's not up to standards to their 8+ year MMORPGs that had time to iron out all their problems with expansions and reworks. Good work and thank you for an honest review.

  2. It's so odd to me that a mechanic that is literally missing components to it and can't even use all of it bottoms out at a 5/10. It's literally broken in some aspects and still somehow manages to get what would be a true average in a ten point scale

  3. I'm going to say this, and maybe no one will agree with me:

In WoW, I made about a dozen new friends in my first few days on the game.
In New World, I've made only 3 in the two weeks since I bought the game.

There's a strange sort of … social barrier between the players. There's a "community", but it's very Japanese-like, that everyone keeps their head down and does their own thing. I think the "Company" is as appropriate to the scene as anything, as rather than a Guild of friends and the like, you're just … part of a company. There are few friendships being made, zero genuine bonding experiences with people halfway around the world, etc. etc. Everyone seems stuck doing their own thing, and unless it's the Company Governor formally organizing something, there isn't much in the way of things.

It's a decent MMO, not without its flaws, of course, but the principle experience of an MMO is in its community, its population; that you're playing with dozens upon dozens into hundreds and thousands of people that make up the server and all the drama, the laughs and shit that comes with it. I just don't feel like anyone, from my experience, is playing this game for the "MMO Experience" so much as they're just here to "play a game". There are things that I like and things that I don't when it comes to the game itself, but ultimately … I feel more alone than I probably should playing New World.

  4. "Why hardcore loot MMOs die" Will also be the reason where New World will die of, drive every 'casual' or newbie from the servers then be left with a PvP MMO with nobody to fight. They raised taxes to max in every territory they won? Shows what their purpose is, disrupting the server. They rule and everybody else either suffers under them or just quits the game.

  6. Well it is not as bad as ffiv when that first released. So things could change, but its not a valid comparison now because square-enix produced a very good ffx11 and other great titles whereas amazon games has only a history of failures.

  7. didn't they just fix some of the drop rates for containers? bugs are to be expected in all new titles, i would give it a few months before making a final conclusion since it's an mmorpg and these games are meant to change constantly over time. wow day 1 is 1,000,000 times different than modern wow. that's just the nature of mmorpgs and if there's a company that you can kind of trust to stick around it's amazon. they wont just let the game die without trying to fix all the issues they can as quickly as they can.

  9. Using vendors to create a floor for prices wouldn’t fix anything.

The vendors would just become a go to for sellers, and lead them out of the player economy.

And all you end up doing is creating reliable farms that incentivise people to sell to NPCs.

If nobody wants the items at that price now, creating a minimum isn’t going to change that. People are underselling because nobody wants it, increasing its price artificially doesn’t change that.

  10. The launch queues were not to bad i think it was resolved faster then wow launch i remember hours in queues when wow was released. And you said they should of just upped the server cap that would of been bad also cause they balanced the game and its resource spawn rates and mob rates on 2k players you ad more players you upset the ecosystem of the game and you have more problems then just players cant log in.

  11. I'm lucky that I had a good experience on launch day. No queue longer than 3 minutes. It was a blast, few bugs etc. But yeah most ppl seems to have had a hard time getting in.

  12. Covenant on my server is extremely outnumbered compared to the other factions, like it isn’t even close if you look at the companies in each faction. So we own no lands and Azoth prices are through the roof

  14. I feel like the people in charge of designing this game are just woefully unoriginal. This brought nothing new or exciting to MMORPGs for me. As much as I hoped to like it, I just don't feel compelled to come back to the game already. I did manage to get some very beautiful screenshots, at least.
