I dont think the first guy scuttled, pretty sure he dove to a quest (changed servers). He most likely had the quest down but could not dive until he was far enough away from your ship.

Throwing knife is suppose to do the same damage as an eye of reach. A jab is 5 sticks.
Hit reg is off on the new pistol. So long story short. Blunder and eye is still better.

I could be wrong, but maybe the knife one-taps if you charge-melee the enemy in the back? Like the TF2 Spy?
literally the first 2 min of this vid is my problem with pvp in sot. Players are so inclined to board via cannoning themselves into the ocean to get on enemy ship. And we all know what comes next, bum rush the enemy player and 1 tap them with blunder(ideally). Happens every time and it's quite boring

The pistol is really good, if ya tripple tap it it fires two shots at like lightning speed
People are putting throwing daggers all over the anchor so you can't drop it until you pick them all up, it's so stupid

stabs do 80 damage, throwing knives do 60 when thrown, meaning their faster and do more damage per second then any gun.
