  1. You may already be aware of this but if not, I highly recommend a 2016 movie by a Mexican director, Amat Escalante, entitled Untamed (La Region Salvaje.) The themes are very similar and it is an homage to Zulawski. Of particular interest is the appearance of a fine Mexican actor, Enoc Leano, in a small role late in the film starting at the time stamp 1:19.

  2. I believe no is simply a genius. There’s only one movie that I believe is so complex so highly artistic you can only be handled by Kino himself. That movie is monkey Jones stop the school shooting.

  4. HI @TheKinoCorner Great Video! Could you please tell me what restoration/ release this footage is from? I have the "La Chat Qui Fume" release and the colouring is so blue/grey and dull. I much prefer this as the colours are more bold and pronounced with more red tints. Thanks!

  5. People in the western part of the world shake their head when they hear about an "oppressive" socialist country banning a movie for being "anti-socialist", but then US government puts "It's a Wonderful Life", for god's sake, on the FBI list for being "too socialist" including its director, and people don't call THAT "oppressive". But apparently pro-fascist movies like "Birth of a nation" and "Dirty Harry" don't need banning here in the West.
The logic is nowhere to be found.

  6. Hey friend , just found the channel and have been on the binge of movies essay, keep up the good work. I especially like your discussion of a movie on its own merit and don't leave it at the surface level discussion of the themes of the movie that most review channels grab onto.

This is a bit of suggestion & you can ignore: Please include some non-western cinema in your catelogue i.e, Indian, Thai , Chinese, African etc< I would like you to explore non Western ovies with your critical eye. As an Indian I can recommend many Indian classics but that might not be for you given general distate for song and dance montage among Western Audience so I will recommend:some recent movies that are restrained on this aspect: Shahid, Haider, Aamis, Sardar Uddham, Great Indian Kitchen, Qala, Masaan, Ship of Thesus, Eega, Hey Ram, RK/RKay, PK etc.

Though I know that is not what your channel core audience looking for and might alienate them. Hence, even if you keep doing what you do I will still follow in your journey.
