Ursula Le Guin’s ‘A Wizard of Earthsea’ is a beloved work of fantasy that deserves attention not just because of its portrayal of a young wizard’s journey into adulthood, but for its deeply psychological themes. Join me as I take a look at this seminal piece of work.

Excellent video. Very well narrated and put together. Thought provoking stuff throughout. A comment on the final part – I take the view that there is a reluctance in the majority of people that they act on less benevolent impulses – a shadow. Of course they do though.
One of my favorite people has a new video up?! 🙌🏼
Great insight in Ursula work. Would love more video like this one !
I adore the way this video began! Those are the best books.
The idea of being old and yet new was explored beautifully in this video, Ursula Le Guin is fast becoming one of my favourites and I see how the ideas she explores have their roots etched far back in time and yet remain steadfast today. Her treating her characters as psychic factors is splendid! I never knew she used the concept of treating characters as psychic factors in her work. This was a riveting video, and the Harry Potter references were quite hilarious lol. Her work truly delves deep and makes its mark, I have to find time to read Earthsea soon.
I hope we get to see more of these videos! It was quite enlightening and the concepts did get the 'psychological resonance' from me as I heard them here, it's fascinating how they imbibe themselves into our lives.
This is a fantastic video!! There's so much to discuss! You did a great job.
I haven't gotten into Le Guin much outside of Left Hand of Darkness for a uni course. Now I'm definitely going to need to get into Earthsea. It's just the type of dark fantasy I like where it explores the dark reality of human nature in a complex way. I love introspective personal stories that get really intense and gritty and are most importantly, honest about humanity and the 'heroes' in the story in that they show their flaws and the flaws have consequences the protagonist has to accept or try to overcome by accepting themselves.
Very well done video! ^.^
