  1. Sistrunk's career has some interesting parallels with "Night Train" Lane a generation earlier: Lane played a year of junior college 🏈before entering the army, and entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Rams, also…

  2. In the 70s Sistrunk was always fun to watch, a unstoppable force on the defence, once saw him rush the QB and do a air plane spin on him letting him fly through the air when he let go, the Radiers were high entertainment in the 70s and 80s.

  3. I've commented on other posts discussing the Oakland Raiders, whether it was a juco player, a cast-off from other teams, or the draft, all that mattered to Al Davis and John Madden was if someone could play!
I'm not sure if he necessarily belongs in the HOF, he was really more of a role player, than a 4 down type, he did give a lot of depth, of course, interior defensive lineman don't get a lot of publicity

  4. I remember reading in Madden's book that he really wanted Sistrunk in that trade. Madden said he told the other coach " I don't know, maybe I'll take that tree trunk guy" intentionally flubbing Sistrunk's name so the opposing coach wouldn't know how much Madden wanted him. Madden said it was the first trade Al Davis let him be a part of and his part was easy.
