The Oathbreakers swore by invoking the name of Eru Illuvatar, The One, to fight for Gondor. So when they died their spirits had no place to go. Denied either The Halls of Mandos or Eru's Timeless Halls until they found a way to fulfill their oath. I guess 3 thousand years of being ghosts was enough.
Do yourself a favor and read the books, you won't believe how much more is in them. I would watch more of your reactions but you seem incapable of not using my Lord's name just like you do other swear words. I guess your crowd thinks nothing of it, but many of us find it extremely offensive. If you are trying to bring people to your channel and patreon you might consider that there are still people in this world who feel such things like a knife to the heart.
5:58 Saruman does live in the book. He tricks Treebeard into letting him go before Gandalf and company arrived at Isengard. He then goes to the shire and takes over the pipe-weed industry. Hobbits end up killing him.
